Blatent price fixing on Amiga Ebay Auction

I was really interested in this CDTV on EBay and was going to bid:

However in the last hour the price jumped from $60 to over $200. Check the bid history:

This aukcjemk was registered today and blatantly inflated the price, hmmmm dodgy.

Does anyone know how I can report this auction to Ebay?

It doesn't really matter though.  The two top "legitimate" bidders upped the prices themselves.

Given that the CDTV is quite rare downunder (I've only ever seen two) I'm surprised it didn't go for more.

Well, I emailed the seller about whether or not it works and he said:


     Sorry I can't verify whether it works - that's why I'm selling 'as is'
with a starting price of just $1.........

So perhaps the other interested buyers also emailed him and worn't going to to risk the punt.

Yeah, I was watching that one too.  $215 is a fair amount to gamble on whether or not you're getting a working piece of kit.  You're right though, those things are quite rare indeed down here, makes me wish I bought one when they were in the shops  :lol:

I was actually tempted to put a few hundred down on it, but I didn't fancy its chances of arriving safe and sound in Melbourne, Australia Post aren't the most delicate breed of people.

This Amiga1084 is the same one that bid up the price on an A4000T I was winning a few weeks ago.  The price ended up over $600.00 and he failed to pay (seller admitted privately he didn't have the money) and I did at the time.

The auction was re-listed and the same person (Amiga1084) bid it up again.  I contacted the seller with mixed results, I decided to avoid them both in the end.  I was convinced that it either is/was the same person or a friend.  The Amiga1084 account was just created in time for the A4000T auction in the beginning of May.

In the US, bid fixing on auctions is illegal and one can go to jail if caught.  You are right though, Ebay has to do better at preeventing things like this from happening. :-o  :-o

I also had that item in my watch list though I forgot about it. When I went to have a look at how much it ended at I was a bit surprised how much it went for.

I remember when they first came out back in the days when shops like Grace Brothers still sold Amigas and Amiga software. At the time it felt like you kept tripping of CDTVs where ever you went . How times have changed. I am after a basic accel for my 1200 after the old one died but finding them in Australia is not easy and the few I have seen on EBay tend to go for very high prices. It's a pain finding legacy hardware down here.

I know what you mean!  I remember buying our A500 from Grace Bros.  :lol: I also remember gradually finding less and less Amiga stuff on the shelves  :-( That was where I got heaps of games though.....they were all marked down to $5.00 each by the time Commodore went bust  :-D Now that Grace Bros. has been replaced by a Medicare office  :-o

Aussie Amiga users :-)

eBay can give good results, but I always avoid any auction where a (0) history bidder outbids me, just saves grief later on.

Sometimes to get decent Amiga hardware I just have to seek oversea's auctions, god bless paypal and credit cards :-P

Yeah, I reckon we need to organise an "Eastern Seaboard" Amiga users show.  :lol: The ozzy users on here seem to be mainly from NSW/ACT and VIC.  
But I reckon that would be cool :-D.  The only Amiga Users groups I know of are down in Melbourne  :-(
