| Amiga 1000 Akron A-Time Real Time Clock | ||

Description: This is a parallel port battery backed up real time clock for the Amiga 1000. I received it with a machine I bought but the disk containing the "Read-RTC" program is long gone. Does anyone know where to get the program for this?

| weirdami Posts:3776 | November 26, 2008, 10:27:13 AM Looking at pictures of all these old fangled electronic peripheral dealies and seeing how many of them are really really simple, it makes me wonder why more people aren't just making their own, or why people weren't making their own stuff back then. This item looks like 2 chips, a battery, some resistors and that three pronged thing I forget what it's called and viola, a clock for a computer. What's our whole deal, anyway? |

| December 26, 2007, 06:38:34 PM It seems that it is simply using the RTC58321 chip as an interface chip. Judging from the datasheet it looks quite straight forward. I guess that it would read the clock during the startup-sequence, since the realtime clock in the amiga 1000 is stable enough. It propably also has a tool to set the realtime clock. | Jeff Posts:1398 | December 18, 2007, 04:59:30 AM You can also solder a couple of wires to the motherboard and locate the battery safely away on the chassis in a sealed plastic bag. I agree this does look easy to build, but it's useless though without the software. |
