Guide for New A1222 Users
« on: July 05, 2023, 03:06:17 PM »
With the official announcement today from A-EON that the A1222+ production run is now underway, potential owners might be interested in how well it works, what performance is like, what quirks to know, and so forth. I've put together a QuickStart Guide to answer all of those questions as well as provide a full reference point on compatibility issues. If you're interested in the A1222, please check out my new guide!

Per a reader's request I've added a new Tips and Tricks section to my A1222 Guide. I hope folks find it useful. The Guide now includes the following sections:

1. Introduction
2. System Build
3. Disk Options
4. Recommended Software
5. Comprehensive Applications Compatibility List
6. Comprehensive Games Compatibility List
7. Tips and Tricks
8. Benchmarks and Performance
9. Online Resources

Enjoy, and thanks for the feedback!

Many thanks to David Brunet who has very kindly translated the A1222 guide into the French language. It can now be read as a single document over at Obligement: http://obligement.free.fr/articles/a1222_guide_demarrage_rapide.php

Doesn't Trevor own Amiga.org, this website???

Why doesn't he have a thread on here instead of doing his own thing on FB?  On my X5040 I cannot even load FB with Odyssey.  It pegs my CPU.   It says at the bottom here A-EON and Amigakit that Amiga.org is a copyright of theirs.

This reminds me of hearing that at Commodore where they used PC Clones instead of Amigas.  Why wouldn't you use your own arena to inform your community?

@cehofer

A-EON has nothing to do with my guide. It's my personal site. If you're referring to the official announcment, there is a PDF on a-eon.com in addition to their FaceBook post.

@eliyahu

Hi there!

When checking your guide today for compatibility, I could not see ScummVM mentioned? Have you tried using ScummVM on it, and if yes, how did it run? :) Some of my favorite games are on ScummVM, so really hope it performs well on the A1222+.

Thanks in advance for your help. :)
