I should have mentioned that I have a PLIPBox.

I also have a DLink range extender, but I had no luck
connecting an Ethernet cable to it. I got the DLink from
local tech support when my wi-fi signal was sometimes too weak

Simplest and often cheapest solution is second hand airport express from Apple, using client mode.

Raspberry Pi will happily work as a bridge between wired and WiFi. Just make sure to get a model with both Ethernet and WiFi (ie a Pi 3B/3B+/4).

Very true, or Orange Pi zero which has both.
