New DOSbox up for testing and...

Please check out the Link above where Fishy Fish has uploaded his most recent port of DOSbox which "should"'have the last set of bugs resolved.

Down load it, run some tests and let Fish know what you think as he needs your feed back on this awesome port!!!

Also, he has his latest incarnation of classic PrBoom nearly ready for a release as well!
For those who don't know, PrBoom
is a Doom source port that removes some of the limitations and bugs of classic Doom as well as adds in a few features that classic Doom could not pull off.

Thanks for the little bit of promotion there XDelusion :)

Ive had another person look at it besides myself as well now, and they also confirmed that the few remaining issues are gone.

One bug left in PRBoom and then 68k/os3.x gets some love (Dosbox and PRBoom)

Well ya....

I don't want to see one of my favorite coders loose his volition! ;)

Cool to hear, I have downloaded DOXbox and am going to head home here in a bit to play around with it and see that I don't encounter the same issues again either as I seem to always be that one dude who finds problems when everything is working perfectly for everyone else.
Hopefully this release will break that cycle! :)

So OS 3.x is getting a port of both DOSbox and PrBOOM you say?!?!? Which in turn means I'm NOT going to be lame an try them under WinUAE. No, not I. Rather I'm going to be firing up my Amithlon machine with something new and wonderful to do on it!!!!!!

Have I told recently how much you rock?!?!? Because you do!!!

@Kesa

You're a little one the "un" side of usual arent you?  :)

KESA suffered from SPAM poisoning as a child. That and he was raped by a hamster. It's not his fault.

Guilty as charged. Although the rocking stops short of wearing lycra in my house.
Seriously, what were the 80's/early 90's rock musicians thinking? How did that become a trend? Near as I can tell its Desmond Child's fault. :)

p.s. The above may sound cryptic unless youre old(ish)  :)

lycra. So that's what that mysterious material is called!

I was born in January 1975, so I had the privlage(?) to have lived through the nightmare that was the 80's...

and things have only gotten more tacky and more bizarre since!

Sure, the official word is that he was raped by a hamster, but the reality is much closer to Richard Gere.

It's not as well known that Kesa was part of a cult run by Richard Gere. The cries of "The hamster raped me" could be heard nightly. It was a mantra of sorts should the cult be uncovered, so they practiced it often.

If it wasnt for Richard Gere's celebrity status, and his lining of pockets with bribes, the real story wouldve come out.

I thought he smelled of a certain Gereyish funk. That explains so much!!!!

And all this time I thought that video evidence was a mock up. I should have known!

Well, that's a bit different.
Women in lycra can look good.
Men in lycra give me an overwhelming desire to poke my eyes out.

Ya, I have to admit that my little search through Google Images left me a bit emotionally scared! I'd share the horrors that I witnessed but I just can't bring my self to go back there now!

All sillyness aside Id appreciate it if anyone with an inclination could try it out on thier systems and give me feedback please.

http://myfreefilehosting.com/f/70d248f68f_5.48NB

The one error reported so far suggests that double buffering needs to be disabled in the config file if using intelgma, but Ive yet to try it on that hardware myself and didnt need to on my hardware. Just keep it in mind if your aros hardware is using intel gma graphics.

Thanks in advance

I was just about to bring up the Double Buffering issue...

and I'm running a board with on-board NVIDIA GFX.

Anyhow, right off the bat I realized that the mouse was indeed fixed!!! I fired up the first Crusader game and was delighted to see that it was playable! I then went straight to Dark Forces, Exhumed, Prisoner of Ice, and eventually Batman Arkham City which ran much much better than I expected!!! Who would have known that this version of DOSbox would somehow manage to make Windows 7 games playable and at full speed with only a mere 512Mb of RAM!!! You are a miracle worker!!!! It made me forget about all those Hamster and Possums that have congregated inside Kesas' rectum.

On that note, now that he's a woman, I wonder if he's going to pose in Lycra for us sometime? I wonder if him and Richard are going to be making a Pretty Woman II?

On the down side, I have noticed that some games (unless played in a really small screen) still suffer from sound hick ups and the occasional wobblyiness in controls, even though my system should in theory be fast enough to keep up.

For the note I am running a 2.1Ghz machine with 512Mb of RAM and a 400Mhz front side bus. I'm considering installing Windows onto a second drive on this computer so I can compare how DOSbox acts under it compared to how it runs under AROS.

Maybe I just need to invest in a slightly faster machine with a better bus?

All in all, I am VERY VERY impressed!!! I can not thank you enough for all the time you've put into getting this right!!! Even with the occasional sound pops! Oh, but wait I will say that I do hear a constant Industrial Static noise in the background when I play some titles, I.E. Prisoner of Ice. Strange, but thankfully more or less an isolated incident thus far.

Fish informed me that Windows 95 should work with this version of DOSbox.

I'm about to attempt this my self using this guide:

And here are some images to give you and idea of what you might be able to expect.

Jedi Knight and Half-Life will hopefully be playable, maybe not on my current computer, but a faster one.

That's both interesting and creepy at the same time  :)

Disturbing Hugh?

I don't know about some of these people around here. :)

I think you can snag an original copy of Win 95 from WeirdStuff Warehouse out in Silicon Valley.

Nothing wrong with wearing full body lycra suits. I'm still my loveable self in them. I know what you mean about guys who display their junk when wearing lycra. Bleah.

No doubt. Thank you for not displaying your junk! ;)

As for Microsoft Windows...

Ha ha ha! Imagine me paying for Microsoft software!!! That's funny to no end! :)

EDIT: Just acquired the MS 95 Floppy edition! I'll see if I can't copy the contents from the disks onto my Hard Drive image and install from there. If not, then I'll try 98 lite (totally stripped down and using as many Win95 components as possible), then if that fails, I have a friend that lives about 40 minutes from here that still has Windows 95 A, B, and C. on CD.
