Hehe Paul_Gadd

It may surprise you that some people still buy originals. :-)

Though in this case, its almost impossible.

@Nick

lol, old 80s and 90s Amiga games should all  become freeware instead of Amiga shops trying to milk every last penny out of old games like those cd`s (Amiga classix, Gremlin collection etc),

Gremlin collection has to be the worst of the bunch with pirate versions of games on its cd  :-D

:-? You do realize that you're advocating piracy, right?  Whether eighties and nineties software "should" become freeware doesn't enter into it; unless the copyright holders have declared it to BE freeware, it ISN'T.

I don't think that's piracy at all. The developers aren't still receiving money
for 'Nuclear War'; the only reason to really
seek out the original is for collectors
purpose. Most of those old amiga games are
freeware, anyway.

Advocating piracy would be like pirating XP or
something, not downloading prehistoric freeware.

@Quixote

If you want to say i am "advocating piracy" then fair enough but i see no problem in telling people where to download antique amiga games from and i do not think many serious Amiga users would give a damn if Mr "pirate" downloads a 80s Amiga game.

It it was Amiga software still available in the shops then yes you would have a point.

I don't mind of you help people download ancient games, but there is a good chance there's more on alt.binaries.warez.amiga than old games. :angry:

Lucky most people don't even know what it is.  :-P

:-? And maybe if there was less Amiga piracy back then, there would be more Amiga software in the shops today.  Most developers for the Amiga platform stopped because there wasn't enough money in it, and there wasn't enough money in it because piracy was so rampant.

:evil: If you want to write software and give it away, that's your choice.  Giving away someone else's software is not your choice.

For a lot of games, you can go to Back to the Roots, download the ADF(s) and then put them onto Amiga floppies and use them.  They are all 100% legal there.  Another place is AMI Sector One.

Unfortunately, I cannot find any of those games there.

Thanks for all the help.  I AM looking for originals (and have cracked copies of all of the above -- except Death Sword).

To add to the Piracy discussion:

I purchased legitimate versions of the above back in
the day.  Does my having tossed them when my last
Amiga became irreperable mean that my use of
pirated versions today is less morally reprehensible?

I'll also admit to testing a huge number of games on
the Amiga that I never purchased but I always bought
legit versions of the games I liked.

Thanks again, all.

I think I have Barbarian, I'll check and post again. You could just pay postage. Don't get too excited just yet though. ;-)
