« on: October 10, 2013, 06:12:42 PM »
Tesla Motors Inc CTO JB Straubel says that self-driving vehicles are inevitable and they’re already here. In an interview at the Global Climate and Energy Project Symposium in Stanford, Straubel spoke about autonomous vehicles. He called the idea transformational and said that all the technology needed to make them a reality is already available. The interview was picked up by Katie Fehrenbacher at Gigaom.

The question is: "Do we WANT Self-Driving Cars?"

Don't know about you, but I definitely prefer to drive myself, if I take a car...
All the best,

I don't want a self driving car (well at least until I am a geezer and can't drive well). As a software engineer I'm not sure I trust them to do the right thing. Only in a closed system where every car is self driving on designated roadways would I trust them. It's going to be real interesting seeing the lawsuits that come up when one's car self drives them off a cliff.

On the other hand I do want all the other jackholes on the road to be in self driving cars, today :P.
