As an aside, would there be a SACC member able to follow up on Anthony's recommendations?
@danbeaver
Sad to say, not that can do SMD rework. (at least in the club)
We might be able to find someone outside the amiga community.

Are you using standard HDToolBox from WB3.1? If this is the case, you might have to patch it with this: http://aminet.net/package/disk/misc/HDToolBoxPatch
None  of the IDE to CF adapters I have tried so far has worked with standard HDToolBox, I only got it to work by using a patched version.
Another way is by using HDInstTools or OS3.9 HDToolBox, since they don't have this limitation.

BTW. IDEfix/IDEmax must also be patched in order for it to work with CF cards.

Man.  This whole thread makes me really, really glad I have Mechware SCSI card readers in my Amiga's.  Don't think I'd want to mess with IDE in an Amiga ever again, if I can avoid it!  :angry:

@oldmobile
On good working machines 1200, 4000D 4000T...Actually, I've installed several of the AmigaKit CF adapter and CF cards in both 4000 desktops and My 4000T with 1,2,3 ease.
unplug the machine, Add the cf adapter, add the card.
Turn on the machine...AmigaKits software runs on boot-up. Install the OS of choice.

The problem was that this 4000T ide is broken.

BTW, I wish I had mechware scsi reader...(sad)
