I think that the C64 version of the game Barbarian was really cool. I spent at great deal of time trying to chop off the other fighters head :-)

I was very disappointed when I saw the Amiga version.

As save2600 I also liked the C64 version of BombJack. It was much better than the Amiga version.

Shoot Or Die!

I dispute the C64 version was better, since that implies any implementation was less than awesome.

Didn't like any version. I didn't like games without true arcade quality parallax in the day.

I'm thinking of either part 1 or 2. The levels were different. More interesting.

Are we factoring in loading times and dodgy tapes ? :)

I can think of a few that seemed identical, like Bubble Bobble.

Some had cool parts. I /love/ the Turrican 2 intro theme from the 64 version.
Oddly I do like the 64 version of Shadow of the Beast better. Im sure thats some sort of heresy :D

Hawkeye the Amiga version was so disappointing, its the one game where I did not mind the tape loading that bit slower as the music & visuals were so cool.

Hi,

How about Boulderdash, Wizball, The Last Ninja, and Paradroid were much better on the 64.

Pacman / Ms Pacman, all the old 8bits were better on the C64 platform. The biggest Amiga version (Pacman deluxe) was a different game incorporating 3D perspective. which made controller play unintuative.
@XDelusion: Turrican NOT !

I heard that ThunderBlade was better on the C64 than on the Amiga.  Possibly because the character graphics modes on the C64 accelerated the tile-mapping effects while the Amiga had to make up the difference with the blitter.  (And a lot of the early games didn't have the benefit of interleaved bitplanes that came with Kickstart 3.)

I have both versions of this game and can confirm this, the C64 version is waaay better than the Amiga version which is slow and have sluggish controls. I was a bit dissapointed when I tried it the first time, I really had hoped for something better. I even bought the original and all.

I had a long time ago a Wheels Of Fire compilation for the C64 and recently bought the Amiga version. Power Drift and Turbo Outrun were better on the C64 in terms of gameplay and sound, but graphics were better on the Amiga version. Haven't tested Chase HQ and Hard Drivin' yet.

I haven't tried the Amiga versions of Chase HQ and Hard Drivin, but I'm pretty sure they are better than the C64 versions (which really doesn't take much). Both games were ported from the Spectrum versions, and especially Hard Drivin is bad. As a matter of fact it is so bad that it wasn't even released as a stand alone game, instead it was added to the Wheels Of Fire compilation as a "filler".

I think Ghosts N' Goblins on the C64 is better than on the Amiga. Sure,  the Amiga version has better graphics, all the levels and more advanced  enemies. But there is one thing it doesn't have, and that is the  somewhat weird but highly atmospheric music of the C64 version. Ghosts  N' Goblins isn't the same without this music imho.

I also prefer the C64 version of Barbarian 2 since I find the Amiga  version to be much harder, but this might be because I only have a  pirated Amiga version of this game.

Ah, Turbo Outrun, dunno how I forgot about that one. Also SCSI (Chase HQ2) was better on the c64 than amiga (although it was almost good on the amiga I thought).
Thunderblade and Powerdrift I have to agree with as well (both Chris Butler games). Despite the hardware restrictions I actually like C64 Thunderblade above all other home versions.
Near as I can tell this is where I write something under the guise of being innocuous, but really its a pot shot at another persons/peoples choice of Amiga based systems. Unfortunately only I cant see how transparent and petty it makes me look.
