Surely a nice job: everything seems to run smooth (which is VERY important for an Amiga feeling).
But generally I'm very skeptic about the "touch interface" in general, especially for playing games, classics even more.
I won't feel good with such kind of controller...

I had a touch phone (ok, not the iPhone but a basic LG Cookie) and after few months I sold it, mainly because touch is fancy, but far from being comfortable in the long run, from what I expect from a phone (eg. one-hand-operation only, preciseness of operations).

Anyway it's a good job!
Merry compliments for 68k code ARM optimized!

Hopefully the developer is negotiating a license for a Kickstart image to be included. I can see a lot of 1 star app store reviews if people realise they have to go looking for a ROM image...

How old fashioned!

I think 1997 was the last time I had to pay for both my phone AND the contract.

Apple doesn't allow generic emulators for iPhone anyway, so this is a moot point. Such emulators are only possible via jailbreaking.

Floppy bootable trackloading games are easy to hack to work without full KS ROM.

The person who hacks a 9-pin joystick port on the iDevices wins a prize. Only that way would the games actually become playable...

Touchscreens are useless as a control device for action games.

I'm aware that emulators aren't allowed, but there was a recent project discussed on this site about a developer who was going to try to get an Amiga emulator on the App Store. I think if it only plays specific games (like the C64 emulator on the App Store) then Apple will allow it, since they can test it and predict what will happen when users run it - unlike a totally open emulator.

Ok, so perhaps the emulator would be bundled with games which don't need KS.

Well from quick read I understood they will be selling standalone "applications" that include the emulation and the specific game, not full emulator.

Or they hack the trackloader to work without KS rom (many games already work out of the box with the KS ROM replacement included with UAE, but even if they don't it's usually trivial to hack the trackloader to work).

Even when limiting the emulator to a single game, Steve Jobs, in his infinite wisdom, still won't allow any sort of JIT to be used.

I've seen the emulator in reviews and it looks great. I'm even working with the author to show it off this year at Amiwest. With luck I'll be able to do it. So far the couple games released using it work perfectly and are very nice to play on both the iPad and iPhone.
