Get an ami bios mobo with boot image support, like on a K7S5A, use one of the tools that are around to insert a different pic in the binary ROM image, flash it to the BIOS, tada, no ugly BIOS screen. i have having booting trouble
both in qemu and on real hardware

read hardware:
installed on a usb hard drive at sde2 (noted in grub as hda1,1)
