New games for the AMIGAAAAAAAAAAA
« on: February 05, 2011, 12:32:29 AM »
What kind of new games do you want to see most for the Amiga?

Platformer, Shooterdoom, FPS, adventure, RPG?

DISCUSS.

I voted RPG but my preferred answer would have been "Yes, Please!"  Also, to save times, can they be programmed to check ocs/ecs/aga status and play nice accordingly?

I dunno, probably.

I've never really programmed an Amiga much before.  I'm working on it, haha.

I'd like an idea of what kind of stuff people want so I can plan accordingly.

What about strategy games? Like Settlers, Foundation, Napalm, etc
I prefer them above all other genres. :)

Strategy games and RPG types would be highest on my list.
Though more games in the style of Cannon Fodder and Alien Breed respectively would be rad.

@Arkhan: I'd rather you revise your original post. Addressing the forum in general as ******* personally offends me. Dunno about the other users, but you don't know me, and i don't know you! So please mind your language...
Thanks...

RPG's for sure, though FPS's are always a nice addition, but they were not given as an option.

As for side scrolling and vertical shoot em ups.

NO PLEASE! The Sega Dreamcast's plate is already full of them. :)

Pretty much any of the above would be cool, really. I've been enjoying some quality classic shooters on my MSX and it'd be nice to see one tailored more for the Amiga's capabilities. It'd also be fun to see an RPG in the style of one of the really good, game-focused console RPGs (and maybe in something other than a fantasy setting at that.) But I think what I'd most like to see is a platformer in the "Metroidvania" vein - solid action with an emphasis on exploration and discovery. That'd be quite a lot of fun.

Of course, I'd like to do a few of these myself, but that'll be at some undetermined future date...
Computers: Amiga 1200, DEC VAXStation 4000/60, DEC MicroPDP-11/73
Synthesizers: Roland JX-10/MT-32/D-10, Oberheim Matrix-6, Yamaha DX7/FB-01, Korg MS-20 Mini, Ensoniq Mirage/SQ-80, Sequential Circuits Prophet-600, Hohner String Performer

I wrote the original Battledroids Construction Set.  But then George Lucas explained that he legally owned the 5 letters "droid" so it was renamed to Battlemech Construction Set.  That was back around 1983.

I have been adding 2 Battlemechs and other SCIFI units into Total Chaos lately, just for fun and flavor :)

I am not interested in making a direct ripoff of FASA game.

However if someone out there wants to design the stats and descriptions and strengths and weaknesses for a whole bunch of Battlemechs then we could team up and create a Battlemech Destruction Set mode for Total Chaos!

I don't even remember what I wrote to be honest, but, lighten up.

I guess I forgot about strategy games.  To me, making strategy games is a pain.  Coming up with the mechanics so that its not a broken disaster is tricky.  I'd probably be cheating and using a different game system thats already in place, without telling anyone... >_>

Like a simplified Games Workshop system, with new names for everything.

Also, I hate Settlers.  After many weekends of playing the real one with all the addons across multiple tables, and dealing with nasally voiced, neck beard, mouth breathing bastards, I no longer have any urge to play that game, ever.

Speaking of RPG's, I wonder why work on the classic Amiga port of Exult (Ultima VII) was never continued?

Methinks you haven't played tabletop settlers in the States if you think Arkhan speaks non-truth!
