amiga.org projects
« on: November 19, 2007, 07:13:30 AM »
There are a number of hardware hacks, hardware bugfixes and   hardware projects strewn all over the net, perhaps there could be a D-I-Y hardware section, with photos, circuit diagrams and reasonably complete instructions for completing the work. although they exist somewhere, they might one day be lost, but if held on amiga.org their availability to the community would be assured.

May I vote for an open source 040/060/ppc card as one of the first amiga.org projects.

Excellent idea!

May I vote for a "Projects" under the "Developers" section?

Imagine creating project threads, where you can upload code/pictures/binaries for others to help/betatest/build/experiment with (at their own risk, ofcourse ;))

I would certainly upload the three projects I'm currently working on.

Something like this would spark a lot of ideas and inspiration, which is *exactly* what the Amiga community needs, IMO.

I don't think it works that way. If it does, I vote for a talking Amiga car project... with Hinder-90.

You could do that now. Then, if a new forum section opens up, I guess the threads could be moved over. The point being: why wait?

Well, I don't know exactly where to put them.  There are two hardware projects and one software.  I guess the latter would be suitable for the "Amiga OS Development".

And, AFAIK, there are no ways to upload files either.  Of course I could link to my own site, but then I have to make sure the links always work, etc.

But, hey, if it's OK with everyone (and the admins), I can give it a try.

Some, maybe, yeah.  But I wouldn't want myprogram-v0.0.1beta on Aminet forever, either.

Anyway, nevermind.  I can deal with the hosting and so on myself, I'm just thinking of a "general purpose worklog" thingie that I tought would be neat.

So, how about them Knicks, huh?

If possible I would like to see whole projects stored on amiga.org as links to other sites could become broken in a few years or less.

Yes i think this is a brilliant idea

And it should be called "Hacks" Then with subtitle "Bugfixes, Hardware hacks, Workaorunds and projects etc"

I think it would be better to start from fresh with high resolution photos and stuff maybe update all the hacks on Aminet and add some ones that or not there.

Regards

Exactly.  Plus, I find it inspirational and interesting to see a project evolve from a simple idea to realization.

Once I get all the parts I need, I'll start a thread (somewhere.. around here) and we'll see how it goes from there.  Maybe others will follow and we'll eventually get a "hacks slash worklog" section. :-)

A6000: By the way, sorry for hijacking your thread :)

No probs, if you are able to upload three projects you can have the thread

It is likely that hardware projects will include driver code, so it is reasonable to include pure software projects in the same forum.
