Amibay registration
« on: July 22, 2015, 02:11:16 PM »
Hi,

I registered on Amibay the other day, then a short time later I was banned having not even had chance to post anything.

This is what I see when I login and I got something similar by email.

Quote
You have been banned for the following reason:
Unfortunately, it has not been possible to complete your registration at this time due to an error. Please contact admin@amibay.com, so that the issue can be identified and resolved by our Administration team.

Date the ban will be lifted: Never

Has anyone else had this problem?

I've emailed to ask why I've been banned without ever having done anything, literally nothing - not figuratively, LITERALLY nothing.

Does anyone know how to contact someone to get it fixed, since I don't even know what the "error" is.

Andy

Many people have had "issues" with Amibay.

I left the place after being berated by admins after I asked a simple question about an item a user was selling.  I'd give away (and have) items before using Amibay to try and sell them, or alternatively, never own anything Amiga if the only place to buy through was Amibay.

But maybe I've just had bad luck, along with dozens of other people who will gripe about the admins there :)

Personal opinion only, ofc.

Sounds like you need to email them, which I believe you said you have.

Seems like an error in the forum based on the message you received.

Wow.  Oh, wow.  I'm laughing about this, having seen all the troubles people have had with Amibay over the years.  Still, it *is* a good site, *if* you can play within the lines, and I've bought and sold many a piece of hardware on there, over the years.  Good luck, stick with it, am sure your problem will be resolved soon!  :)

The crazy thing is I've not even had the chance to do anything wrong yet :)

It's odd that you can't even look at most of without already having registered too, how am I meant to know that it's worth resolving if I can't see what's actually on the site?

I think the same thing happened to me when I registered with amibay.

Shot them an email and it got straightened out.

Probably someone clicked the wrong check box.

It'll be in error, just email them all will be sorted. The admins/mods on there are great, it's an awesome site for buying hardware.

In some cases it's better than Ebay, quite a few small hardware developers hang out there too :-)

This is just an automated message so don't take it personally. Just contact the Admins and your registration should get resolved.

Amibay has had issues with banned members setting up alias accounts, spammers and hackers attacking the site. Unfortunately, their automated system can't always tell the difference between legitimate and illegitimate new user accounts.

If part of your registration was missed or your IP doesn't resolve to your location then the security system kicks in and auto bans you.

Drop an email to the admin address and they'll sort it out.

Yes, this kind of happened to me too.
But it was fixed and I started using the amibay.

Now I'll only bought one thing, but it was what I wanted and it went great.

But I read and re-read the "rules" and decided they were fine.

so enjoy after everything gets fixed.
