Has anybody tried Mega Typhoon?
« on: July 22, 2003, 04:50:09 PM »
On www.back2roots.org a GREAT shoot 'em up has been released: Mega Typhoon. It's an awesome game, originally released in 1996, that runs on every Amiga. The great thing about this game is that it's the only game with sprites running at 50 Hz, thanks to some innovative routines (where the blitter controls the copper!). The difference between traditional shoot 'em ups is HUGE - it's the only Amiga game that feels exactly like a coin - op... frenetic action and great playability. I hope that it doesn't get unnoticed, which would be a shame.
Someone has told me that its level's design looks like the ones of an arcade called Raiden, can anyone confirm this?
Sadly the archive on b2r is slightly broken - the executable file is missing the -x flag, also there's only the hard drive version.

I'm curious to know how it works under Uae, and if it correctly emulates the 50hz sprites.
