Nobody wants to go back to the old site.  The new site is functionally 100x better.  Why mess up a perfectly good vBulletin website with some retarded looking font.

Yes, because all you ever do on the site is look at the logo. You just stay scrolled up and look at it. All day long. It never gets tiring.

... If I came across a site that used Topaz, I would probably assume it was a website dedicated to 'retro' things.
...

Isn't the Amiga a 'retro' thing ??
Or you're one of those people who believes in a second coming of the amiga ?

I like the contrast of the smoothed Georgia-A and the retro-Topaz-8 next to it. So Topaz it is for me. Rotation is a fine idea, let's make a calendar. Will anyone draw a logo where a Lemming climbs on the Topaz font? Oh, what's Lemming day, btw :-)?

Great! Who needs pink flowers and red hearts on that day anyway.

I vote for a C64-font on august 4th ;-)

Ok guys,

Time to agree or disagree.  Put up or shut up.

Here's a poll to decide whether the header logo for Amiga.org stays with Topaz font (the defacto Amiga font) or goes with something more modern/traditional such as Georgia (the "AMIGA" logo font).

Since I can never make anyone happy, here's how this will go.

I will post this poll, then stop it around 100 votes (200 if it gets spirited).  If, at the end, there is a CLEAR and DECISIVE victory for one side or the other, say 70%, then the font will follow the direction of the poll results.

If at the end of the voting, there is no clear victor, then phooey on all of you and it'll be dealer's choice.  Keeping in mind I may actually rotate the logo for holidays and such.

Either way, no more kvetching about it.

Deal?

Hi,

I sort of like the old, put it on the right, put the login in the center, and put the new on the left.

does that solve your problem?

smerf

always one step beyond

It'd also be fun to change the logo according to various calendar events, etc, much like Google does, but Amiga themed?

Or maybe not ;)

Who will pay an artist to doodle "amiga.org" variants full-time?

Money money money.

Perhaps someone would want to, just for fun. Who knows :)

Either way, the topaz should stay.

I realize of course that some of you will NEVER be happy until this site looks identical to the antiquated version of what it was.
The new header will change and mutate, but -- with respect to those who can't get past it -- it won't ever be what it was.

Don't misunderstand, I am not opposed to change, and I don't necessarily want to go back to the old site.
Some of the functionality has certainly improved, and I am sure that this new Amiga.org will be better than the old one.
What I don't like so far, is that the new look is a more generic "vanilla installed bb system". I'm purely talking colours, headers and stylesheets here.
The old site had a certain look, which I am sure many of us loved. It looked more polished and customized. But I'm sure everything will be nice in the end.
