Title: Name A Classic Game
Post by: Mike_Amiga on November 06, 2002, 12:25:02 AM
Gravity Power/Force.

My school friends and I played this to death. Was there ever a game like this of another name released commercially :-?

Yep, and it rules. Excellent two player fun (well, GF2 anyway, I never played GF1).

It's prolly somewhere on the internet.

Whenever I think of this question, I come up with Flashback.

To me at least, it was simply everything. The graphics, the music,
the gamelplay. My only gripe was that it wasn't full screen.

Hmnmm - I preferred Another World to Flashback.   Had a cool story and was easier to get into, with more variety.

Ho Hum... nostalgia hits me again - a quick trip to UAE land needed methinks :-)

Pirates!

It was the first game I saw running on an Amiga.

@kubyx

I got Little Computer People in some sort of compilation of games, and pretty quickly identified it as pure filler - I can't remember exactly what the other games were, but I think it may have been something like ten games, so quite a fair chance of striking crap :-) .  I ended up trying to amuse myself by finding the house image (an IFF on the disk - working with a back-up of the original, of course) and modifying it in DPaint, then seeing what it would look like in the game. That's bad, but what's worse is that that gave me significantly more enjoyment than the actual game.

Seriously, did you like this game? I'm not quite sure how to interpret your  :-D  smiley.  :-?

Myself, one of the first games I had on the Amiga and the greatest thieves of my time was Test Drive 2. Oh and of course Tetris. But everyone says that.

Wow, I remember being a little kid, walking into Waldensoft and drooling over that Shadow of the Beast demo on the A500 they had set up...so much cooler than my C64...well, C128 in C64 mode.

And then there was that weirdo who worked at Waldensoft, and all he could talk about was how the C64 version of Shadow of the Beast was better than the Amiga version.

And we all made fun of him on the local BBS's, from our 300 baud modems.

Those were great times.

What about MARBLE MADNESS???

It was really cool at the time.

Would be fine to get an improved version of
Marble Madness for OS 4.

Of the games I can think of that I have and/or have played on the Amiga, Lemmings Psychosis and Worms are the two which I remember as being classics.

I swear I must have lost a month when I first got hold of Lemmings...senseless but possibly the most addictive game ever(?).

Dungeon Master was the game I used to like, I still play it from time to time with winuae, but the one game that will always stick in memory was MegaBall, my missis used to moan like hell about the time I spent on my miggy, untill she played that, then I couldn't get anywhere near my 1200 coz she was totally addicted.

  :-?

Marble Madness gets one of my votes, the graphics were exactly like the arcade and the gameplay was good with a mouse.

Earl Weaver Baseball- My friends and I played this game fr 3 straight years.

Hi,

What comes to mind for me are games that no-one seem to know (of the people I know).

One of the games I got after I got my a1200 was Bloodnet. I still find that to be one of the coolest games ever. Right now I cannot really remember what I used to play beforehand, except for Eye of the beholder I/II which are also extremely cool.

Newer extremely cool games include abuse (PPC for it to run acceptably) and Ancient Domains of Mystery (ADOM) which I have sold my soul to play :-)

Sincerely,

-Kenneth Straarup.

Oh, and of course all the great adventure games, like monkey island, simon the sorcerer and faith of atlantis (as opposed to all the sucky adventure games, like zak mccrack, maniac mansion etc :))

@elendil

Yeah, Bloodnet sure rocks.  :-D The cyberspace scenes were quite surrealistic and weird though... :)

@the rest of you peeps

SpeedBall II must be the coolest future sport game ver made. I've bought every release of that game from the first SpeedBall to SpeedBall 2100 for the PSX and are now eagerly awaiting the release for the GBA and the online multiplayer version which is dubbed SpeedBall Arena.

yup, sure crunched a lot of joysticks on that game.  :-D

I'll give you two words.......SENSIBLE SOCCER!!

It's a classic because it's the best footiegame ever for the Amiga.

Would sure like to see it being updated for the AmigaOne.....but then again....how do I get two Arcade joysticks to work with the A1 ????????

It's sad that the new amiga lacks the good old joystickports like the old ones had. Damn!!!

Gaming isen't as fun as it used to be.

Anyone heard about the possibility for more than one joystick???

You'd need two of them wouldn't you? Or has the flipper a legacy joy AND mouse port?

Another thing would be drivers, just hope they'll be available for the Catweasel Flipper.

If I were to name a few more it would be:
Sensible Soccer
Speedball 2
Oil Imperium

Hmm, my first A500 came from Electronics Boutique packaged with
Arkanoid.  Which also happened to be the first Amiga game I ever beat
:-)

Another favorite is Barbarian-II(europe)/Axe of Rage(america).  During
the time of "clean" video games, it introduced us to the "death-blow",
a dragon that snapped your head off (literately), swallowed it, then
turned to the gamer (viewer)--and belched.

Oh.. and my "namesake" 8-)

First game I played was Halley Project. A boring game were you explored the galaxy. It was a national contest. Also the game that told me Amiga was special. Looking through the manuale (unbiased by the way they wanted to sell games they did care what platform.) Anyway the pc version was a gray box with a unmoving starfield. The amiga version was a grafical interactive cockpit with star and light effects. It was also color. PC version was Monocrome.
