guys was chatting with the developer and shockingly only 2 americans and one canadian have registered for this NG Lotus style game :-?
The game is in constantly updated and if you like the orignal Lotus series of games then I guarantee you'll love this game on your NG Amiga or Linux!
download it at AmigaTec's homepage (http://amigatec.com/) and if you like it consider making a donation to get your custom key that will let you create your own tracks so people all over the world can play them! Also in the works is the ability to play online with other users which is uber cool :-D
Update:
- there are many many registered users from all over the world with the exception of US & Canada so that's why I'm pushing for users on the other side of the pond (http://amigaworld.net/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
- AmigaRacer is available on AmigaOS4.1, MorphOS, Windows, Linux & Raspberry Pi

@klx300r
Wow that is cool. I am 1 of the two americans that is registered!! AmigaOS4.1 FE
Cool. I pick a number of developers a year and donate every month of the year to them. The first pick this year was Michael St. Neitzel the developer of Amiga Racer. I have donated about $6500 over the last 3 years. It's a great game!!

Checked out their website briefly, looks like a great group to support. Wish they made things for classic systems, though. :(

I wonder if that becomes more realistic once Vampires are all over the classic scene.
As for now, since Aegis got Wings to work on WinUAE AOS4.1FE I guess there is a fair chance this game works too...?

Quit workin so much and git yur OS4.1FE installed on yur laptoppy!

But, that looks like a really sweet game! I'm one to talk though.... I have OS4.1FE sitting right here and haven't got mine installed either! :hammer:

The game looks pretty nice!
Too bad I don't have NG Amiga.

What do you mean? That only 3 have registred or that only 3 in North America have registred? Because I'm Swede and I'm registred and I know for a fact that the New Zeelander Epsilon is too.

Sadly not - I tried it :D
Fragmentation is a big problem for OS4 since it runs on low-memory, non-hardware accelerated platforms such as Blizzard/Cyberstorm PPC/WinUAE and also on overpowered beasts with tons of RAM + hardware compositing like the X1000. Trying to write a game that works well for both extremes is difficult to impossible.
It's funny, 'cause there's stuff I thought I'd never get running on WinUAE that works surprisingly well (Freespace, Blender) and other things that you'd think emulation would handle easily (BubbleShooterDX) that fail completely - Amiga Racer's the latter I'm afraid :(
The good thing about emulation though is that the software (and the hardware it runs on) is always evolving - PPC emulation will get faster, WinUAE will continue to evolve (I'm hoping Toni tackles Voodoo 3 emulation soon) and the underlying hardware gets faster and more efficient so what doesn't work today will hopefully become a possibility in the future.

@ Yasu
to be clear, only in US & Canada there are currently very small amount of registered users but developer (Mike) says there are many from other parts of world so just wanting to push those on the other side of the pond (actually reminds me to update main post)

@klx300r
Wow cool. Now we know who 2 of the 3 are. lol
-
Well, being in California and had been registered early in the game, using it in both AOS and MorphOS, made me think that I was one of the 2 Americans :-(
-
Runs great under RetroPie!

awesome:pint:
Got the Registration key today. On - line update success!
Great Race Game. Haven't seen the likes of this since the 90's. This is, by far, better.
Thanks for the hot tip.
More U.S. Registrations are needed! Donate! Let's support all Developers! Got to keep stuff like this coming! :)
Cheers!!
John

I did! 25 years ago! Bought my A500. Played Defender in the Arcade as a teen, before it was re-written for Amiga. Same for Pac-Man, Galaga, Dragon's Lair.....the list is long. They all started in the arcade. Until awesome Developers rewrote for the C64's then Amiga. Then we all found out the C64 and Amiga was way more than a game machine. Nice Arcade Machine!!
Cheers!!

Hi guys,
i just wanted to say thank you here to all my supporters.
Usually i'm not that active in forums because i rather use the time to work on the game. As you probably know i'm doing that all alone, there's no game studio environment (teamwise speaking) here present. So doing that on a professional level in my spare time is really time consuming.
However, i enjoy seeing people happy about new contributions towards the amiga community. So the show will go on and i briefly already announce for this year also 68k game(s).
I "work" very closely together with my supporters (people that have donated) gathering input and suggestions from them.
Example: John (the topic starter here) asked me if it is possible to remap controls individual since he likes to play with a gamepad and currently needs to stand up to press the ESC key to end the "Finish Race" screen. Currently (at the very same moment) i'm working on exactly that and the update will go live this weekend.
Supporters can also "vote" for next game ideas for example for the 68k game. Don't get me wrong here, it's not that i want to "earn money" with the games. If i would compare my efforts here towards the donations i got so far then i would not have pushed the game so far. It's more the passion to show yes, it is possible to deliver top notch games for the amiga (NG and later this year classic) platform.
Many years back i wrote anyway games for the commodore (C16 / Plus4) and switched later to amiga development. (I've been also working back in the days for Amiga Special Magazine in germany where i worked together with Manfred Leidorf on the "how to code amiga in assembly" courses)
Another idea had recently (because some people really have problems there) is writing an up-to-date Virusscanner for 68k and OS4/MorphOS. That would be no problem at all for me, because well i work as executive in such a computer security company and as you probably found out by now i can also code :)
So again thanks - and i will look from now on here daily too in this forum.

Oh i just see that there seems to be some "confusion" here in this thread about how the keyfiles work after you donated.
As i said already, it's important for me that you enjoy it as much as i do seeing you guys happy so you can use one keyfile for all your machines at home. That means: If you going to get soon a PPC Amiga then you can also use the Windows (or Linux or Raspberry or MorphOS) version key. All the versions are 100% compatible with each other. That means if you create on a windows machine a new track that you save you can use that very same track also on your PPC Amiga or MorphOS etc.
The keys are "household-bound" so you can play with your kids for example with your key on a 2nd machine. They key is important for the upcoming Multiplayer Feature (over internet connection) to identify different players.
I have here a video (yes, it's amateurish but it serves its purpose) explaining the game and what you can do with the ARCS system. That is already kinda obselete now, because it showes a previous version but you'll get some idea.

I am glad they are attempting to honour their game name.
It was really weird that it was called Amiga Racer but it didnĀ“t run in an Amiga!

good news from the Amiga Racer developer Mike :
"Amiga Racer Version 2.9c is available for download/update.
This version includes a lot of bugfixes, also the problem that some machines with AmigaOS4 could not reach the first checkpoint when using ARCS has been addressed."
Also, AmigaTec / Amiga Racer will be present at the GamesCom 2016 in Cologne.
We will have our own Amiga Booth there and showing Amiga Racer on several systems including the Amiga Racer Arcade machine. There will be also news about the new 68k game that gets developed besides Amiga Racer. Of course we will take pictures and videos from that event and we will share it with people that have supported us with donations so far! "

another update:
Hi,
this is another major update that addresses many user feedback.
Finally we have now (as from many users wished) a proper lotus turbo challenge start!
Exactly as in Lotus you're driving against 20 opponent cars now. The race start is now completely different.
More information about this update can be found here:
http://amigatec.com/drupal/?q=node/260
This update also fixes a bug that slowed down some players when passing the checkpoints.
-
yet another update from the developer :-)
just a short info that Amiga Racer Version 3.3e is available.
Couple of fixes, including the Mercedes is now fully animated (rotating wheels, working breaking lights)
Mike :-)

I tried the game and it looks nice, it reminds me more of a Cruisn USA for N64.
I have some comments about the game, like first impressions.
The music is catchy.
Graphics are good.
I did notice that there are some frames in the car models that are missing. When you turn, the car does not look right for some reason.
The car seems too far from the bottom.
The road winds too much, left, right, left, right, I can stay in the middle and I won't crash. In the snow level the winding road is more apparent, maybe the draw distance is too far???
Other then that looks good. Can't wait to see classic Amiga version.

what about an AROS x86 version as well?

and yet another update v3.72, that brings us the tournament mode (like in the original Lotus series) and a new track- enchanted forest :hammer:

and yet another update today that incorporates online-highscore leaderboard for the tournament races:hammer:
-
another update: btw, in this version I noticed a bug on the gas button where it intermittently stops working and I have to press the button again to get acceleration back, I've reported this already so hopefully it gets fixed soon.
----------------------------------------
Amiga Racer Version 3.93 Update available! This update includes now a smart information system (including version checking system), so it will alert you automatically when there is a new version available! You can then directly press Space (or Firebutton) to autoupdate or press Cancel (ESC) and update later within the Game Menu Live Updater. The game will also remind you now if you are driving with the generic Collector's Edition Elite key that you should register your name for all online tournament functionality. I saw in the server logfiles that quite a lot of people driving the Online Tournament with the generic key. Once you have purchased the Collector's Edition Elite (or the Collector's Edition Online) you can easily request (for free) your personalized keyfile to join Online Highscore in the tournament.

Download this for my X1000. Didn't find enough time last few days.
