Title: Remote
Post by: ed7063 on March 12, 2016, 02:37:56 AM
I have a x1000 and a win7 pc. I want to use one monitor, keyboard and mouse for both as I am tight for deck space. I used to have a KVM switch but when I switched to the Amiga it froze nearly every time. I've read about AmiVNC and RealVNC but almost no instructions make these impossible to make it work.

So is there a way to make this work with hardware or software? Cause right now my Amiga is setting idle. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You might want to look at a Synergy client on OS4. It looks like there is one on OS4Depot here: http://os4depot.net/index.php?function=showfile&file=network/misc/amisynergyc.lha

Synergy, in essence, is a software version of a KVM. It lets you share the keyboard and mouse between multiple machines. You'd still have to swap inputs on your monitor or set up multiple monitors, for which it has additional support.

This wont work.  I need it on 1 monitor.  Any ideas on hardware KVM switches?

I know this isn't the answer you're looking for, but how about one monitor with multiple inputs? Most professional monitors have at least 2-3, these days. Then you could use wireless keyboard & mouse, and just toss under the desk whichever you aren't using at the time. ;)
