A couple of days ago on eBay, I saw a used, boxed copy of Castles of Doctor Creep (for the C64) sell for $280. Are there any valuable Amiga games?
-
Moonstone.
Any complete Ultima.
Old Sierra games.
and many others...
-
How about games like 'Zak McKracken' and 'Maniac Mansion' in mint or new condition? Don't they go for a high price? Or did I screwed when I bought mine. LOL
Then there is of course 'Indiana Jones Fate of Atlantis' right now on E-Bay. Seller is asking $650 for it.
-
I've seen Zak Mc Kracken go for 280 US$ on Ebay. Also, Apidya is about 70 - 80 Euros nowadays. I got a hold on "The Patrician" and learned its usually about 50 US$. Amberstar, Ambermoon and Eye of the Beholder I/II go for insane prices as well sometimes.
Dune II ... still trying to get a hold on that one :/
- G
Edit:
I just bought Indy IV (Fate of Atlantis) in mint condition for 15$, so good luck to the guy who wants several hundred for it...
Edit2:
I had an offer for 45$ for Maniac Mansion in mint condition, but couldn't get over myself to pay that much at the moment...
-
I cant believe no-one mention Super Street Fighter Turbo yet. Probably the single most expensive bit of amiga collectable software ever.
Moonstone, while a great game, was hardly valuable. Ive seen it a dozen times or so on ebay and it never goes for more than maybe $10-$15.
-
Shadow Of The Beast from Psygnosis ( DMA, Now Rockstar North), original 'big box' mint. I paid £92 for a copy ( SUCKER ) but, it never had a mark on it.. i love it. Wicked box art!! Ghosts and Goblins Amiga Version is sought after too, well, by me it is...Anyone got one?? :(

Is that true about streetfighter? I've got a literally mint condition copy. It was bought and then installed straight to hard disk, so no wear and tear at all.
I'm assuming you are talking about the Gametek version? How much can these go for?
-
I also heard before that Alien Breed the Killing Grounds was valuable too.
This would make sense as I don't think many people had a decent enough machine to run it.
I've also got a completely mint copy of this.
-
giana sisters
xenon 2 cdtv
-
Turrican 2, also the CDTV versions of Turrican 1 and Turrican 2 are worth over 50 euro each.
I heard that Amiga Castlevania is worth a bit also (although its a crap port).
-
I think that Great Giana Sister was Shareware, not comercial.
-
It was sold in my local Games shop.
-

I would imagine any of the games that came WITH T-Shirts! :-)
Man, I really wish I hadn't worn out my t-shirt..
Naw, I loved wearing that thing.. ;-)

@ddniUK
Uppss, your right, it's from Rainbow Arts.
But, so I played again to confirm it. :)))
-

Red Sector Inc made it freeware, but it was a commercial game.
One of the rarest of the well known games for the Amiga, as the Nintendo lawsuit got it pulled off the shelves very soon, yet everyone has played a pirated version.

Not seeking to contradict you, *but* I've also seen a couple of the games you mention go for under $10 complete in box. In fact, I bought one of them myself for a few dollars.
-
turrican 2 and 3 are not rare games on the amiga but generally sold very well at 50u$ as minimum
bckid also is expensive when an original in mint condition appears
-
Ultima isn't expensive... I just sold V and VI for just over £40 for the pair, new in box.
Moonstone regularly gets
£80 or so, I'd take 10 at $10!

Dunno about amiga games but this C64 gem should be quite valuable:

@ajlwalker
Yeah, the Gametek version (super street fighter turbo). I accidently omitted though that its specifically the cd32 version which is valuable. AGA version is still uncommon so probably worth a little money too (dont quote me on this though), but the cd32 version Ive seen only twice, and both times it went for roughlty $500.

I wonder for how much longer though. These things go in waves, nobody born in the last 25 years will care.

I've got two words for anyone thinking I'll pay that sort of cash!
-
@fishy fiz
Thanks for the reply. Typical.
I just checked completed listings on ebay and nothing, so perhaps, like you say, mine is worth something afterall.
-
I do not know about valuable, but I do know rare: Monkey Business. (Made by the Bruce Lee / Zorro people.) Never seen a crack.

I think the Ultimas value are really the Apple II versions. I've seen some of the C64 versions fetch a decent amount also...
It's tricky, because the Amiga doesn't seem (to me) to be in that "collectible" age/range yet.. It's not one of the first like the Apple's (No, don't go into the Altair or the SOL's here.. ;-) .
The things that are really expensive for the Amiga are the things that are rare and yet people still want to use (68060 cards, video cards, etc)..
When I see sealed copies of Mindwalker actually selling for hundreds, then we'll have reached collectible status..
IMHO

(p.s. Have you tried to buy a sealed (well, in it's plastic baggie) copy of Akalabeth for the Apple II??? ;-)

Hey all,
Well, I've been buying some games recently... most of the ones I've seen go for good cash are Zac McKraken and Maniac Mansion, some rare/old peysnosis games like Brattacaz, Agony (though not so rare but still expensive), Traps & Treasures (went for over 100 ukp the last one I saw) and P.P.Hammer which I offered over 100 euro for and still went out of my hands...
Cheers,
Dragster

Haven't a scooby doo where you guys are looking but on eBay UK (which I check every day) Amiga games very rarely even sell at just 99pence boxed or not... ;)
Most of these games get re-listed time after time without any takers (often wonder why the sellers do it) and very rarely do you see a game selling for more than around £20... ;)
Current List Of Amiga Games On Ebay UK... (http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_trkparms=65%253A12%257C66%253A2%257C39%253A1%257C72%253A5251&rt=nc&_nkw=amiga%20games&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14.l1513&_pgn=1)

Emerald's Mine for the CD32 always seems to bring $50 or more.
For such a popular game they must not have sold very many original copies.
I haven't ever seen the floppy version forsale.

I do not know about valuable, but I do know rare: Monkey Business. (Made by the Bruce Lee / Zorro people.) Never seen a crack.
A quick google shows it was written by Ron J Fortier (who did bruce lee, not zorro) and was released by other valley software (which was founded by Ron). The only version available online appears to be on the ST.
You could ask here:

I think the Ultimas value are really the Apple II versions. I've seen some of the C64 versions fetch a decent amount also...
Ultima: Escape from Mt. Drash for the VIC 20 is probably the most valuable one. I've still got my original cassette, but sadly the box and manual are long gone.

Not sure about that...
(All the below are for Apple versions)
A copy of the floppy version of Akalabeth recently sold for over $4000.
http://cgi.ebay.com/AKALABETH-1980-Floppy-Disk-Package-Ultima-0-RARE-PC-RPG-/220818172778?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3369c9eb6a
And that's the least valuable version.
The most valuable is the first run, which was distributed in baggies.
This is what Richard Garriott was selling at his local Computerland store in the summer of 1979. He bought some zip-lock baggies and made a couple dozen copies of some hand-done documentation, and started selling them there in the store. His manager sent one copy to California Pacific, and that, as they say, was that. Garriott says he only sold a dozen or so of these that summer. It goes without saying that if you have one of these, you can name your price.
Although I agree, that Vic-20 version is crazy.. ;-) I'm a fan and collect some (I have a big box Ultima II with map, Ultima III with map and Ultima IV and Ultima V (each of which in varying degrees of missing things, no maps)), but I won't go hundreds, much less thousands..
I'm crazy, but not like that...

No offense taken ;) I'am checking the Amiga/C64 game market regulary for only a few weeks, two months at best. By now i've already seen Apidya go pretty cheap (30 Euros), but at least on the german market its very rare.
Sometimes people also just ask for insane prices - i just spotted a C64 in working condition with a minimum of perihperals in bundle, and the guy wants 1000€ for it; Well - good luck with that XD
As Franko linked, the UK market appears to be very different, for example. Lots of games that go for 1 - 7 Pounds there would be sold for at least twice the price on the german market, some even pretty expensive. If you find a collector who is willing to pay, that is :)

Bad news the speculators now over charging for the Amig games.
-
Here's another nice example of a very valuable C64 game. (Space Taxi.)

Let's just hope it doesn't get to the stage the UK 3DO market is at. £18 for Myst, nah, I think I'll just leave it.

I could buy a yellow car for that and pretend it's a real taxi. or maybe just download it here:

Well I've just spotted a copy of Super Street Fighter Turbo AGA on ebay.
Will be interesting to see what it goes for.
Sadly it's not been marketted very well on ebay what with no pics etc, but will be interesting to see what it goes for nonetheless.
I must add this is NOT my auction.

PS. Where's the little link and smilies buttons?
-
Oh well, looks like my Super Street Fighter Turbo AGA is worth nothing.
The ebay auction didn't sell.
Have to say it was one of the worst ebay adverts I've seen for an Amiga game though.
-

Shadow of the Beast is available on Amazon!

I would say that the two most valuable games consistently would be:
Moonstone (avg. 100-120USD)
Zak McKracken (avg. 60-80USD)
I have only ever seen 1 copy of ninja gaiden for amiga on ebay and it sold for over $500, I think that is the highest single sale I have ever seen of an amiga game.
I should state that I own about 400 complete boxed amiga games and many more c64 disk games too... I think only Jerry Kurtz from lemon64 has me beat on the size of his amiga + c64 game collections of active scenesters.
