And it's only about £60!
One for our machine costs over £200.

Still, whilst there only just getting 50MHz 060s for their mouldy STs and Falcons, we'll have our shiny new AmigaOne G3s/G4s running at 600MHz and upwards...yipee! :-)

Well, it seems that is for the 060 chip _only_ to plug into your accellerator card.  It even says it can be used with Amiga accellerators.

I should point out that the Atari Falcon has had a PowerPC accelerator in the past (don't know if its still made, or what PPC processor it had though).

It also offered a non-planar highcolour mode when the Amiga offered HAM-8 (more colours, but much harder to program). It also has DSP and 16 bit sound, so don't laugh too hard when you laugh at the "poor atari users".

They also have a "coldfire" effort.

Don't for one minute think we have a monopoly on the souped up "dead" machines.

For example, Nate Dannenburg has a C128 in a tower with a 16bit 20Mhz CPU upgrade (SuperCPU), 16 Mb RAM (Commodore REU), CD-Rom, 4Gb Hard disk, and a bunch of other goodies. Sadly his website is down now, but hopefully he'll put another one up soon.

Yea, but Amiga's the best computer in the world dammit!
As soon as I get my AmigaOne onto broadband, I will never have to touch this Wintel box ever again.

The C128 sounds pretty impressive, but which platform do you think has a higher chance of a comeback? The 8-bit Commodore or our Amiga with super 128-bit graphics, 16-bit sound, and the ability to play DVDs? ;-)

Honestly? neither.

And the top of the range Atari and RiscOS clones have the same "super" graphics; IIRC they all have ATi Radeon support.

With all this talk of Amigas using ATi Radeons it sounds like the new A1 is gonna be part Mac :-?

@amigamad: "atari users were always miles behind amiga users although i like atari st,s they give us something laugh at. "

I don't think us Amiga owners have too much to laugh at these days. The Amiga is hardly king of the hill any more.

While I agree that the Amiga was superior in most ways to the ST, the Atari workhorse was still a good home computer and a worthy competitor to the Amiga. At least the ST's existence lead to diversity and competition in the marketplace - which is more than we can say about today's.
