It's not real hardware, but hey, it's something Amiga-ish to tinker with! :)

I'm assuming you need to have a hacked Wii operating system to use this?

Yes...
and I can't express how very easy that is to do...
Though I guess if I you have no idea how you do it, it would come across as a VERY confusing process.

I bought a second Wii for the sole purpose of running the Wii port of UAE.
You can pick up a used unit for $100 or less. There is no reason not to have a unit for retro gaming.

Or a modded Xbox classic for that matter! :)

Also have one of those, as well as a PeeCee hooked to the tv as well. I estimate my entertainment center draws 1000 watts sitting idle. (not really)
-
I have an extra Wii with a broken DVD drive. Hard drive and unit works fine otherwise. Without the drive, is it still useable for modding into an emulation game system or media centre (for Media stored on USB/Smart cards)?

It can be modded via USB.
I would link you to the instructions but mod's may not like that. Google is your friend.

As long as the SD card slot OR USB works all things are possible. The Wii is a great little machine, it's just a damn shame we can't stick extra RAM and OS4 on it.
-
It won`t appear as an update on HBC Browser.
Does the new version run "The New Zealand Story" (the previous one froze just after the intro)?
-
http://www.hackmii.com/ we are in luck, a new version of the Homebrew Channel was just released!!!
-
Been out for awhile. I didn't find much of a difference from the old one. There was suppose to be wii motion support now and some networking fix's for the homebrew channel. I like postloader.. The all in one for homebrew, wii vc/games etc.. Very nice.
lost

Damn I hate that childish "PeeCee" crap.
And my HTPC has a 270 watt power supply.

You're never going to see an OS port from anybody that could face la legal battle over their support of hacked consoles (so Hyperion and the MorphOS developers would never consider that kind of port).

Childish?

I see that Amigan's will find any excuse to nitpick. Please accept my apologies for using offensive terminology. Also I was joking about the wattage. The PC I use hooked to my TV draws significantly more than 280 watts.
It is a gaming machine my husband built to run Skyrim. He runs NVIDIA so I imagine it draws over 500watts. Though idle it probably draws less than 100 watts.
-
Heh, I think we all got a few peecees laying around at this point. :)

Well...I didn't mention the 600 watt power supply hooked to the other system with the 125 watt Phenom II processor and the Radeon HD4870 video card (which also doubles as a nice space heater for my bedroom in the Winter). ;)
And, yeah, we DO get pissy around here every once and awhile. Sorry.

No hard feelings, and yes the system does make a nice space heater, he moved it out of the entertainment unit to the top because he thought the airflow would be better out in the open. Unfortunately I can no longer shut the door and not see it and asthetically it is not too pleasing having a large tower sitting out in the open, it does run Lunar Leeper, Gorf and Omega Race well however so I do not complain. He does roll his eyes when I emulate a 1mhz computer on a quad core system... Anyways having a USB cord nailed to my crown moulding leaves something to be desired though. I would pay at least $100 to have some different solution. Who do I send money to to get a Bluetooth Competition Pro?

After softmodding a few xboxs, softmodding the wii was the eaiest thing ever.
Only real issue I had was finding a crap enough sd card :)
-
The floppy disk sound is a nice addition.
It freezes (http://www.amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=34478&forum=8&5#646464) again, "Fatal Disk Error" just after the intro...
I think the v7 (Nov 27) (http://code.google.com/p/uae-wii/downloads/detail?name=uae-wii-7-bin.tar.gz&can=1&q=) was OK, I`ll give it a try later.
The HB Browser won`t showup this version for update (like SysCheck). Something wrong with the links maybe?

Yeah, I know. Doesn't mean I can't moan about it. :D

Blasphemy!

Not if you still own and use the real deal. :)

Agreed, nothing beats the original chips. My miggy's are still soldiering on but it's nice to play Deluxe Galaga from the couch, so I emulate as well.
-
Yes, emulation is good and convenient for gaming!
For my apps Super Gen, Chroma Key, Midi, and so on.
I NEED my Amiga! :)
-
"Deluxe Galaga"!
Oh my!
I wasn't aware of that one, so I had to pull up Amiga forever.
Neat, its there!
Not as accurate a copy as NES Galaga, but nice.
I used to play the arcade version whenever I came upon it.
I wonder if UAE has enough power to run this under MorphOS?
