Title: Lemmings info
Post by: darkcoder on March 09, 2004, 02:43:40 PM
Hi to everybody

I have a quetion about Lemmings: The Tribes.

What should I do to access to the final animation?
My father has completed all the tribes with more than 55 saved lemmings, and of course a full gold medal. But the game keeps saying that one has to save more lemmings to access the final animation!

Second question: I think that now all Lemmings' game for Amiga are public domain: where can I download them?
In particular I am looking for the Chrismas' Lemming (91 and 92)
and Holyday Lemmings (93 and 94)!

:-)

That happened to me.. I completed all the worlds, and then it said, sorry you didn't save enough lemmings.. the end.

No, AFAIK none of the Lemmigns haev been placed in the Public domain. I also doubt they will be either now Sony bought Psegnosis :-(

There are plenty of PD Lemmings clones that are available though...

IIRC you have to save over half of each tribe.

One of the Christmas Lemmings' is a four level demo (not sure which year, I didn't know there were two of them), PM your email address to me and I'll send it to you.  Holiday Lemmings (both years) is commercial and not available, so you'll have to hunt eBay or the Amiga game sellers' sites for that.  Note that the '94 edition contains the '93 levels as well, so you don't need both.

I never managed to complete Lemmings 2: The Tribes.

I'd have thought just collecting all the pieces of medalian would give you the option to see the end of game animation, it sucks that it doesn't.

I found it tough enough to just save an entire tribe at all, never mind 50% of the population of all given tribes.

I never managed to complete lemmings 1.

(the following is all out of my memory, I didn't check it through). You need to pass each level of each tribe with a level gold medal, so you get a completely gold medal. If you have passed a earlier level with lemmings loss and got a bronze or silver medal, play on with less lemmings and later retry that level (with gold), you will have to (successfully) replay all further levels with the new (increased) amount of Lemmings.

Anyway, check out my free Lemmings 2 Level Editor with over 30 new levels on Aminet (also available from my homepage).

[Edit: And if you just want to see the end level animation and hear the music, I can supply you with it (as soon as I got internet access from my amiga at home again)]

Lemmings fans should try CyberLemmings (from Aminet). This gives you a cluch of Lemmings climbing up and falling off your Workbench frames. There's some naughtier stuff in there as well! ;)

If someone wants to see naughty things happening to limmings, I have a site with some old lemming aminations from DPaint converted to Gifs on it here. (http://www.members.lycos.co.uk/myklmyk87)

In the Photo Gallery section BTW notice the crap use of Tripod Web Builder. :-D  :-P  :-)  8-)

@ Chris Hodges

I already downloaded you level editor, but not tried it yet!
It seems to me that my father completed all the levels with much more than half of the lemmings! there are at least 56/60 in ehach level!
Anyway, I'll check again in the weekend. Maybe I have a broken copy of the game?
In case I fail I'll ask you the final animation!

@ everybody

I found the Xmast and Holiday lemmings!
Thanks you all for the useful information or interesting comment.
About versions: I once saw a PC version of Lemmings 1 and was almost the same as the amiga but...of course Amiga was better!! :-D :-D

 regards!!

Does anyone remember Christmas Lemmings?

That was brilliant! Lemmings in Santa hats! The creator of Lemmings deserves a knighthood for all he/she has done for us amiga lovers!  :-D

The best version of lemmings I have ever played was that Christmas edition where they are wearing Santa hats. :-) That kicks ass, man!

did you guys ever play the 2-player mode of lemmings?  i thought that was 10x more fun then the singleplayer levels.  there is a new internet multiplayer lemmings-like game named CLONES which lets you relive that fun :)  grab it from http://www.tomkorp.com/clones/download.asp

Hmmm... Maybe... But the PC version (when it was released) needed a pretty nifty machine even to get the sound outta it ;-) Oh, and there wasn't a 2-player mode, which I also believe was far too underrated. Soooo many drunken games of Lemmings and Worms  :pint:

Lemmings 2, IMHO, had the most perfect level of difficulty. It took me seven years to complete the game, after buying it in 1993 and finally finishing it in the summer of 2000.
I think I remember being told to save more lemmings after getting a gold piece of talisman - I agree that I think you have to get gold standard on every single level. It is possible, just keep on trying.
The end animation isn't all that good anyway!
Have to concur with the opinions on the two-player mode, although you had to be a passionate player in order to do it. On the Atari ST the two-player mode was unfair because one of the players had to use a joystick. The ST was incapable of reading a mouse from the second port.

Hoya!

I agree. On Lemmings 3, you spend more time trying to dodge the monsters than actually SAVING the poor chaps...

I have never managed to finish either of them without using codes...

I was gutted that 2 plater didn't make it to Lemmings 2, which was also something else & I still haven't finished, 1993-20xx?

multiplayer lemmings was intense.  you should download CLONES (http://www.tomkorp.com/clones/download.asp) and have a match with me sometime.  maybe a 4 player match too if we can get enough people :)

yeah mate, so u said.. well ill acknowledge the christmas one rocked as far as the little santa-lemmings went but c'mon, there was like 4 levels.. barely enough!!! not enough!!! criminally not enough!!!

i neva played lemmings 3 but to be honest the new big lemmings could never look as cool as the small 8x8 chaps looked :) woulda preferred to see better animated pixelly things than big smelly things.

loved the first lemmings (which i first experienced on a game gear of all things!) ofcourse the amiga version was much better but oh.. i miss my gamegear sniff.. why did i sell it?

hmmmm, how about crossing turrican with lemmings?? lemmings could just be there as cannon fodder for your turrican chappy.. hmmm.. hmmm.. ill let u know!!

I loved the jingle bells remix that came with the Xmas demo.

I'm still trying to complete Oh no! More Lemmings. It is so bloody hard! Right from Crazy Level 2 (the first 20 on Tame difficulty are a waste of disk space, by the way) to Havoc Level 20, with a few exceptions, the game is very hard. I got up to Havoc level 15 before I cried enough. Using the codes, the last level is virtually impossible, requiring you to detonate 10 exploders (without blockers) in exactly the right place. Argh!

The Tribes got frustrating after a while, too. At least I completed the first one!! And Holiday Lemmings '94 (but that didn't feel very Christmassy at times)!

Hmm, Timekeepers was fun too. A nice relaxing game, when you work out the puzzle correctly. A pain when you miss an arrow out somewhere.

Ooh, by the way, the level editor is terrific. Apart from strange instability when editing the Space levels (there is a 40% chance it crashes within 5 minutes), I was able to create a nasty Classic level based on 'AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!' from Oh No...I only completed it once.
Title: Re: Lemmings info
Post by: platon42 on June 27, 2004, 09:44:18 PM
Hmmm... never crashed here (the non-betas). But then again, it was my last big project written in assembly language (350KB source in 18500 lines) and asm happens to collect unnoticed bugs from time to time. I hope you enjoyed some of the new levels aswell. Some of them are *really* hard and need perfect timing. A few also use features the original game never used, like the quicksand in the shadow levels. Feel free to share the levels you created ;)

Post by: The_Power_of_the_Ginger on June 27, 2004, 11:28:22 PM
Oh, will do, will do. Sticking to tradition, most of them are Classic levels, but I designed some neato Egyptian ones too. In fact, some of them became real epics, and to complete them was something magical. Sort of.

Yes, the extra levels ranged from 'ooh, this one isn't actually that hard' to 'er.....pass.'

Just as an addendum to the Space thing, I could still create levels, but I would have to save frequently. Also, there were so many level bits to use to create a platform I got bored, and moved on. I don't always have patience. :-D

But a terrific level editor, much more organised and easier to use than the PC Lemmings level editor which, although you could place objects and scenery anywhere on an expansive level, you had to have a complicated system of implementing the levels into the game. Not so with your terrific program. Possibly the most useful Aminet thing I came across.

Yes, more things to put up on Aminet. I'll keep the Classic Amiga alive yet!! :-D

After Lemmings 3, then Lemmings 3D and Lemmings Paintball the lemmings
decided to retire. They are now living in Leamington Spa, England.
They sip Lemon tea and read Rock Climbing Monthly.

Have you noticed though that lemmings in real life look like guinea
pigs and don't have green hair and blue overalls?

There should definately be a Lemmings Vs Worms game. Imagine the
multiplayer possibilities!

I blitzed lemmings, I did everything but the holiday editions, I couldent find them for sale anywhere.
I recieved the final animation sequence after getting half gold, half silver medallion and losting bucket loads of the little fellas. why is everyone else having a problem?

Did anyone else notice you couldnt save all 60 from the classic tribe? the bomber killed lemmings and there was no other way to free blockers and get them to the end. Even my dad (lemmings deity, mangaed to get all 60 lemmings form polar levels, a nightmare) got a silver piece for that.

By the way... you can buy amiga stuff online? can someone reccomend me a good site? I need to buy a lot of new manuals as well (had a big cleanout and found I lost most of my security passwords!).

Ah, you couldn't save all 60 in the Classic tribe (not unless you're a superhero/ine, or are cheating), but you could still get gold. The game sadly doesn't tell you that sometimes 56 lemmings would be enough to complete a level, until afterwards, when you get rewarded...
