It's kind of interesting that the A600 trapdoor memory expansion slot carries all the signals of the Denise chip and more to be able to make such an expansion possible.  I wonder what Commodore was planning when they came up with this design?

The indivision ECS doesn't use the Denise, it can be plugged into even the Paula socket. Just look at the A1000 adapter for it :-)

It doesn't use Denise for the A600 (it does for the 500/2000, from what I've heard - won't boot without them installed), but it still has to be getting the video signal data in the A600 from somewhere, right?  And the only way it could know what pixels to put where is going to have to be coming through the trapdoor slot...

Have tried this in the past with my 500 plus and it booted fine without the Denise installed ;-)

As long as it can talk to the A500/A600's bus somewhere then it doesn't really matter where/what it connects to :-)

For the price, it's worth picking one up with an RTC just in anticipation of getting an A600.  (I *think* I have a working one...)

I've heard of certain Amigas having up to 8Mb of GFX RAM. I wonder why something like that couldn't be done with this?

Certain Amigas with an 8 MB CyberVisionPPC or BlizzardVisionPPC RTG card do, most other RTG cards have from 1 to 4 MB; unless you mean the non-functional 2/8 MB JUMPER on A4000 motherboards meant for a non existent AAA (as opposed to the AGA) chip.

The IndyECS does not "use" a Denise in any system.

You still need an Denise somewhere.

The IndyECS also does not use any video-signal coming from Denise (in contrast to the AGA-Indies and Lisa), what it does is react on anything happeinng at the chip-mem/set in the same way as Denise would.

This data is then used to generate a VGA video-signal.
1. Make an announcment.
2. Wait a while.
3. Check if it can actually be done.
4. Wait for someone else to do it.
5. Start working on it while giving out hillarious progress-reports.
6. Deny that you have ever announced it
7. Blame someone else

The second clockport is designed for use with the Subway USB controller (available separately).

Is Amigakit expecting more stock? That link I don't see any Subway's available. :(
