hello everyone
« on: February 21, 2016, 07:37:20 PM »
Hello, I want to introduce myself since I will probably be here often from now on. I am a 42y old guy, I work in a factory. English is not my native language but I prefer English forum so be forgiving if I made lot of typo error or sound a bit strange. I live in Quebec Canada.

I had a Amiga when I was around 16-24 years old and I love it, to this day it's still my favorite computer.

I played on a emulator recently but its not like the real deal. plus I wanted to do some modding on one. since I am TRYING to learn electronic I thought that will be a good way to learn.

What I remember from my old comp, it was a Amiga 500 with a monitor, the 512kb expansion, plus another ram expansion of 1.5 or 2mb, upgraded Agnus chip, 2 more floppy drive and switch for pal, ntsc.

Everything I had come from a guy living in my town he was selling copied games, new and used hardware. He was also making mod to current Amiga He added a switch to mine that allow me to switch between NTSC and PAL, upgraded my Agnus chip with a switch that allow to revert back to the memory configuration of the old Agnus. He even made floppy drive for the Amiga, well he purchase floppy drive I think they where made for the pc because he added PCB board with 2 chip, couple of capacitor and stuff to them. Build a metal housing, put a switch for each drive so you can disable them if you wanted. He even made a power supply. since he was making them you can ask for single double or triple drive and they come in the same case that was awesome. at that time that guy was literally my idiol.

I am getting old and nostalgia kick in. I already ordered a bunch of stuff GOTEK drive, dp23 to dp9 adaptor, ps/2 mouse adapter,512kb ram expansion. and i am currently bidding on a Amiga 500 on Ebay.

I begin with A500 and probably get A1200 or A4000 later when i am more use to work with a Amiga again.

So that its if you have advice for someone that dint touch a Amiga for nearly 20 go ahead. :)

"How do you know I’m mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn’t have come here."
