Title: Backbone lockup.
Post by: bbond007 on September 17, 2011, 03:24:40 AM
I downloaded Backbone_Full.lha from aminet to take a look.

Most of the tutorials lock up my A1200.

my specs are:

A1200 3.1  Classic WB ADV, 030/40mhz typhoon with 64mb.

I have a pcmcia wireless card and a subway but they were not enabled...

Any ideas?

thanks

I'm not exactly sure what would be causing the lockups but you should make sure you downloaded the update and keyfile and install those too. The Backbone_Full archive on Aminet is the third last version and was buggy, so make sure you've updated to version 2.10.

How much of the game do you see before it locks up? Are you using a joystick or a control pad? Because if a Backbone game is set up to use CD32 controls and you have a Sega-style pad plugged in, hitting button 2/C is just like hitting every button on the CD32 pad at once, except Red, but that includes the Start/Play/Pause button, so basically if you hit 2/C the game will pause. The way around this is to set up different sets of controls to choose from. I like to have three options, Joystick, 2-button pad and CD32 pad. I've set up the perfect controls for these and saved the preset, so I'll upload it for you and anyone else to download and try out, you'll see how the 2-button controls don't use any CD32 buttons except Blue for Jump, but Pause is assigned to keys on the keyboard, so hitting the C button won't pause the game, even though it's still sending through the signal for Blue, Yellow, Green, <<, >>, and Start, the game ignores the other signals and just makes the character jump.
