« on: May 08, 2007, 10:55:11 AM »
Hi
I have one question..what is the difference between Bllizard 1240 and 1260 except CPU and 5 - 3,3v voltage regulator? Is there any 68k selector like in Bllizz PPC or something like that?

PS.I jave blliz 1260 with dead 060, I will put 040, replace osciltar, remowe 3,3v regulator,but I don't know if its enough..

how do you know that the 060 on your card is dead?
it can be another thing....it can be the connector

on the other way...you can install a 040 there but you must know what are you doing...there are 3 types of 040 cpu...25mhz,33 and 40....and each one of them needs a diferent crystal oscilator and of course you must remove the 3.3 regulator cause the 040 works at 5 v

and about your question :all you want to do is posible....blizzard and apollo 1240/1260 boards can be upgraded or degraded to a diferent cpu but it's not simple

on the other way if you haven't a tower you can't put a 040 on the normal A1200 trapdoor...it needs a fan and the 040 not works fine there jailed...it suffer very much by excesive hot

bye

Theres a solder jumper to select between 5v and 3.3v above the regulator.

Please also be aware, that the 040 has different number of pins to the 060

Soldering etc is easy, I know how to do this and I have experience. (I did things like that), but I did'nt know abut selectors:) Is there some second selector? I will change voltage selector, but may be there is some other selector too?? (CybeStorm has 3 I think)..thanks!!

Why not just replace the 060? You can get an early XC68060RC50 for about €30 off ebay.

If you just want the card to work... you could always get an XC68EC060RC66 for about €20 again off ebay.

OR

You could go the whole hog and get a  new Rev6 MC68060RC50 with E41J Mask (full MMU & FPU, works upto 100MHz) for about €80

The only other selectors are by the oscillator to determine the frequency
