Title: 14mhz 500 hack. Help!
Post by: zx6r6 on August 31, 2005, 01:07:53 PM
Performed one of the hacks on Aminet to make my 500 run at 14mhz. It powers up fine but I cannot get any of my internal or external drives(4 tried) to work at the increased step rate. I picked up an A590 the other day but the damn thing doesn't work either! any suggestions!?

@zx6r6:

Which one of those on Aminet did you do? I think this (http://de.aminet.net/pub/aminet/hard/hack/new14acc_31.lha) is the only one that will work more or less ok as it has circuitry to avoid double-clocking the E-clock plus some correction of the DTACK-signal.

The other ones just passes all the signals from the 14MHz 68000 unmodified to the motherboard, including a double-clocked E-clock which makes the 8520 chips screw up some of their timings, which you seem to have seen the results of.

It was basically the same hack thats detailed on this (http://www.ianstedman.co.uk/Downloads/500hacks.txt) site. Ian mentioned the program DFDELAY but I've been unable to locate it anywhere!
