Never used it before. Always used the power pack install thing for morphos which gave me no control over the system

Having a proper software manager in the Amiga is really good and useful.

I agree. Whenever I had problems with Pack Chrysalis installation I usually let Grunch uninstall and then reinstall the faulty program. Works every time

Speaking of Chrysalis.. I need to finish reinstalling MorphOS on my G5.   It was pretty unstable..so I wiped out MorphOS and am reinstalling fresh without Pack Chrysalis to see if it was the culprit.

Chrysalis is okay for 1st time MorphOS users who want to get an idea of what is available, but I agree that using Grunch to install and maintain only the applications you want and put them where you want them, is a better way to go for most users.

Grunch is awesome, and I agree that it is a "Must Have" utility for MorphOS and that it is better than most package managers I have experienced on other platforms.  It could be even better, if only more developers/programmers would take advantage of Grunch for their software installation and maintaining the most current versions.

Well, I don't remember that it would have been said about MorphOS version of Grunch that much. For MorphOS it has always had quite nice collection of stuff, not all of course, so you might want to look MorphOS Files and Aminet too, but quite nicely and most of the important stuff at least. I recommend to do basic installation of MorphOS with Grunch, and then look elsewhere if there's more stuff you'd like.

But for 68k it has been quite useless what I've heard (haven't tried myself though). Not enough support there.

Yeah, I was referring to the 68k version. I assumed both versions would be comparable. It's a shame as I would really like this for my Amiga if it worked well.

Agreed, I think it should be bundled as part of the OS and be installed by default.

If they do that, it becomes MorphOS Team's responsibility instead of Geit's responsibility. I think that is why.

Since Geit is part of the MorphOS Team, I fail to see how bundling it with the OS would transfer the responsibility of maintaining it to someone else It's very useful for newbies and advanced users too. If it was included with the OS, then new users would have an easy way to install software out of the box.

Ok, I will offer to help out if this is something I could be of use with. Although that will depend on how complex a task it is.
