Amiga.org structure
« on: January 21, 2011, 06:30:22 PM »
I've been thinking about the structure of Aorg, and I think there are way too many forums.
Maybe 4 or 5 forums will suffice, with a category/filter function?

Not so clear.  Which ones would you eliminate or combine?

I've never been a fan of removing features and options, or limiting choice, but obviously I'm in the minority.

I think there are juuuuuust a few too many. I'd merge the AmigaOS and MorphOS "Operating System Specific" parent forums with their respective children, and... well, that's it, actually.

EDIT: Come to think of it, I probably should have voted "Other" instead of "Agree". Oh well. :)

I agree!

Like for example:
1 Amiga forum (covering HW, SW, OS for 68k/3.x, PPC, AROS, MorphOS and OS4)
1 General computing forum, for discussions about all other platforms
1 General forum, for discussions about anything at all.
1 Buy&Sell forum
1 Site Suggestion and Announcements forum

I also think the aesthetics/visual appearance is to cluttered. It's too rectangular, and way too much underlines, and lines used as horizontal separators. IMHO, the only place you would need underlined links, is for links embedded in forum posts. Everyone understands that menu items, post titles and news items on the front page are clickable.

:)
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :)

That is only to be done with pants on head and pencils up your nose :)

I dunno what's up with this place really, you say you are developing a new game for OCS/ECS machines which will look like an AGA game and you get a hat-trick of people remotely interested/encouraging you!

Maybe it isn't the structure that is the problem in the world of Amiga these days.....

Strongly disagree with the idea of a single Amiga forum.  I don't think it makes sense to mix questions about fixing old hardware, with opinions of games, with questions about music & video production, with C=USA bashing, etc.

I think we should ban Karlos. With that many posts the guy (girl?) is just asking for it :)
