Hi,
Very curious to know which games the women or girls prefer. If you are not female put in whatever you heard them say they like. Give an explanation.
My cousin 4 years younger than me liked to play Bonecruncher and Super-Hang-On. She has a wii now.
I guess those two aren't manual intensive or involve any (vicious) killing.
-
Hmm... Judging from my wife's preferences, it's JRPG's with cute Anime characters.
Occasionally multi-player co-op or party games work, too, but only if it's something that kind of puts everyone on the same level. From the Wii, we had an absolute blast playing 4 player New Super Mario Brothers one night. She'll occasionally play Mario Party with some friends, as well.
The only time I've seen her turn on my XBox 360 was yesterday after I showed her we can now watch NetFlix streaming through it. :P
-
On Amiga, my wife likes Lemmings.
She also seems to be a fan of the God of War series on the newer machines.
-
Much like guys, different woman like different games... why would anyone think it'd be different ? I have a few woman friends who are huuuge WoW fans, others who like fps games, while some others like more simple, casual games.
Slightly off topic, but:
@tone007
While the actual games themselves where pretty generic for thier genre, the GOW games I found very technically impressive on the PS2. No.3 was reasonably impressive too, but being that its on one of the current gen consoles it didnt impress in the same way.
-
Well, my sister never uses Amiga, but she does like Tapper on the C64. (Ironically, she does not drink any alcohol.)
-
@fishy_fiz:
Totally agree
-
I have 2 sisters and both of them have played on my Amiga's, most played was Lotus Espirt Turbo Challenge II, but one of them also played with Pinball Fantasies.
Also Super Cars II was played.

Nancy: Total Chaos, Temple of the Enlightened Souls, Wrath of the Demon, Carthage, The Wall, Dpaint, Ocean Beach Volleyball, All Tennis games.
Teresa: Total Chaos, Baby Jo, Prehistorik, Rodland, Pick n Pile
Ann & her kids: Total Chaos
Foxy from Russia with Love: Total Chaos (Likes cute critters)
April: Total Chaos (She loves to kill things, especially monsters)
Jenny: Total Chaos. We had a Total Chaos party with a 5-player game and she won! :destroy:
Megan: Total Chaos. I was the first person killed at the party. She was second. Poor little Megan :)
-
My wife dont play a ton of games. She likes RPGs and does remarkably well at fighting games like Tekken and Soul Calibur
-
My ex wife's favorites were Wizz Kid & Settlers...
(That's about the only thing I miss her for, was burning down her time consuming & carefully built up land in Settlers... :biglaugh: )

Ok, ok, we get it. You made Total Chaos, are proud of it, and like to show anyone who'll listen :P
-
I'm starting to love the ignore feature..
-

No doubt about it, punching someone in their contribution is a poor way to encourage future efforts.
Last time I sent something to Aminet, I hoped someone would acknowledge what I had done.
-
The comment was tongue in cheek based around the fact that Chaoslord will use, or create the slightest hint of a seguay to mention Total Chaos. I mean really,... who believes his list is more than the people in it humoring him for the work he's obviously proud of ? Id expect that a few of the people he listed wouldn't know what an Amiga was had it not been for him showing people what he's done and encouraging them to play it with him.
No harm in being proud of your work, or promoting it, but after years its gets a bit comical how tenuous a link will be used to mention it.....
RPG? You should try Total Chaos. it has monsters and spells and whatnot....
Stratergy,... you should try out Total Chaos....
Pointy pointy knives,.... check out Total Chaos....
banana? you should try Total Chaos,.... there's yellow in it.....
Y'all need to lighten up if you dont find it at least slightly amusing by now. Heck, had I made it I'd probably chuckle at someone responding in the way I did too... you know, the whole it's funny 'cos its true thing....
And surely me commenting that Ive been noticing this for 5 or so years is a form of acknowledgement anyway ?
-
I mean really,... who believes his list is more than the people in it humoring him for the work he's obviously proud of ?
So you expect me to believe that whenever a girl tells me she likes Total Chaos she is just lying? Why? Why do you feel that girls can't like strategy games? Do you think they are not smart enough or what? Dude, you are really sexist.
Id expect that a few of the people he listed wouldn't know what an Amiga was had it not been for him showing people what he's done and encouraging them to play it with him.
Why on Earth would you expect that females cannot own their own Amigas and play games on them?
All the girls in that list (except one) own/owned their own Amigas for many years and played hundreds of Amiga games.
What have you got against females having fun with their Amigas?
-
Hahaha,.... that's so far off the mark I dont know where to start with how wrong it is.
Yes, Im so sexist that I spend a good chunk of my free time discussing the creative side of Amiga with a good friend, who happens to be one of this sites best known females. We've spent hours upon hours talking about, and doing creative stuff for the Amiga for the past few years since we met..... yes obviously Im sexist and dont believe woman can enjoy thier amigas. The fact that me and Cammy colaborate on Amiga stuff proves that......
Seriously guy, how the smeg did you come to this highly amusing conclusion ?
-
Yes, because all girls think the same, right?
-
I mean really,... who believes his list is more than the people in it humoring him
Please name 1 female that said she liked Total Chaos, not because she meant it, but rather just to humor me ?
-
Both Jane and Debra.
Vague, and who are they ? Exactly.
Anyway, I suspect you'll miss the point as you have anything Ive said already, so I'll re-itterate the fact that my comments were tongue in cheek.
I dont want to belittle your work, if youre enjoying it then good luck to you.

Are we just talking about girls and the Amiga? Or girls and gaming in general? Generally speaking and remembering what some liked to play in the past and present, I've noticed women get a kick out of:
Centipede
Any Pac-Man type game
Gyruss
Dig Dug
Guitar Hero
Any video or REAL pinball machine
Any card or trivia games, especially on the MegaTouch bar top touch screens (I own one)
Old fashioned Shuffle puck bowlers
Juno First
Donkey Kong I and III
Burgertime
Pooyan
Moon Patrol
Tetris
2600 Demon Attack
2600 Adventure
...can't say I've ever known a woman that's been into RPG's, Chess or war strategy games. lol Different generation for sure. I can see teenagers, tweens and twenty-somethings liking some RPG's though. After a certain age/responsibility/lifestyle, just no time for certain games (if any) anymore ;)
Also can't say I've ever known any women that were into gaming on a computer come to think of it. Console's and real arcade machines, yes.

My wife is into real RPG's with dice and paper. Not so much the wargames though.

Am I wrong or no girl has answered?
How many girls are in A-org? Two?
-
Amiga or other. But I did say games they say they like, not just ones they play to be part of the group. e.g. My friends sister use to come and play Mechwarrior with us, but only to 'join in'.
So I guess there is no stigma of 'boys' games and the little ones won't get told "No, they're for boys" when she points at a video game.
-
But how many girls are out there?
-
You know for me, not exist games for girls and games for guys..
But i saw some girls like games lika
-Burger Time
-Sims
-Super Frog
-Super Mario
-Henrys House
-Frogger
-Super Breakout
-Carmen San Diego Series
-Rodland
-Quest Games
-WII Sports
-Thats Dancing Game (i cant remember the name)
-and others
but
-Others more Hardcore Gamers play games like,
-Street Fighters
-Action and Adventure Games
-RPG Games
Anyway all depends about the Taste..

I only know of one girl game - The Great Giana Sisters.

I only know of one girl game - The Great Giana Sisters.
There was a girl in Golden axe
-
Jenn: OrkinLand, Temple of the Enlightened Souls, and, of course, Total Chaos.
June: OrkinLand, Rodland, Pick n Pile, and, of course, Total Chaos
Rachel: OrkinLand and Total Chaos
Tess the Mess: OrkinLand (Really likes the orange boxes)
Beth: OrkinLand (She loves to kill things, especially monsters)
Briana: OrkinLand. We are planning an 8-player game, and she'll probably win!
Melissa: OrkinLand. Poor little Melissa :hammer:
p.s. OrkinLand isn't out yet, but I'm thinking of making it, and these girls all have great confidence that it'll be their favorite game ever.

Where are the Girls !
The problem is....this oh so accurate guesstimate is based on "my *InsertFemaleTitle*" and is just so funny!
Some of you should write it thus....
"My female likes.............." covers all basics.......I guess the after hours hair dragging to bed occurs in the same manner.
Lets be honest the topic the thread and the attempt at being PC was so wrong to begin with.....you all just tripped over yourselves, on the way to generalisation.
;) Have you pressed the "Try Harder" button ?

Umm,.... my response was:
"Much like guys, different woman like different games... why would anyone think it'd be different ? I have a few woman friends who are huuuge WoW fans, others who like fps games, while some others like more simple, casual games."
This is a generalisation how exactly ?
-
This thread is ridiculous.
-
It's a simple question, what is ridiculous about it? The answers help me appeal to a wider audience when designing/writing a game. Plus it is embarrassing to see computer games dominated by males with girls just using a computer for facebook and photo storage.
I guess it's still the early days of computers, but I know that games programming is an all male affair. If they start liking more games perhaps they will start programming them too.

Actually I was doing a 3 year course at uni that was games development centric and it's definately not an all male affair. Granted guys outnumbered woman probably 4:1, but there's definately woman involved. Heavenly Sword development for example was headed buy a woman (who's name I currently forget), as is it's sequel/offshoot which is in production right now.
-
"Much like guys, different woman like different games...
Like that. Lets close this thread. Before it turns into a bloodbath.
-
-Super Frog
-Super Mario
-Frogger
-Super Breakout
-Carmen San Diego Series
...don't know how I forgot these. Especially Frogger. I have an ex-wife that loved Superfrog AND James Pond I and II for the Amiga, but can't say she really ever played 'em too much. Mostly just thought the characters were cute. :)
-
Turrican 1 and 2.
-
Indeed, this seems like a category all on it's own...
It seems to involve everything from (esp.) Japanese RPG's (Square/Enix etc.), to puzzly games together with 'bubbleshooters' and the likes.
A number of Amiga-games my girlfriend, about my age, likes would be;
Bubble Heroes, Pick'n Pile, Clockwizer, Scrabble, Total Chaos 7, Paco-Mix,
Zangband, Deluxe Galaga (not Deluxe Pacman however, go figure), King's
Bounty, Sexy Droids, Dune, and then a load of card-games.
-
The Great Giana Sisters was a favorite among two of my sisters (the third one wasn't intersted in games), but Winter Games on the C64 was really the favourite game for my youngest sister. She have later tried various winter sport games on the PS2, but she says it isn't the same because she liked the sheer simplicity of Winter Games with the joystick waggling and all.
My impression is that girls in the 80's & early 90's usually liked games that weren't too violent and not too complicated (meaning they were easy to get into), a high cuteness factor of the games often helped a lot as well. At this point in time I didn't know any girls who had their own computer or console, they usually borrewed them from their brother(s) instead, and I remember that even though my sisters wasn't allowed to, they used to sneak into my room when I wasn't there to play games on my C64 & Amiga.
But this was of course back then, nowadays my impression is that asking what games girls prefer is the same as asking what games guys prefer - the answers will vary a lot in both cases.
-
One former girlfriend liked the following games on the Amiga:
- Tritus (Tetris-like multiplayergame)
- WET - The Sexy Empire
-
these type of games? for example

Very simple answer:
1) A LOT of YOUR ca$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$h
2) A lot of free time
3) YOUR new car
I can guarantee you that EVERY woman will like to play this game!
:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

My Mrs likes
01/ Amiga - Galaga, because the way it starts off slow builds up to a faster speed and the aliens have a set way of appearing on screen & to beat your own high score.
02/ Amiga - Superfrog, good music & graphics, entertaing and puzzle solving.
03/ Amiga /PC Lemming, cute charecters & more challenging the higher you go up the levels.
04/ PC - Centipede, longer you play it the faster it gets and the high score becomes more challenging.
05/ 1st Nintendo consul - duck shoot.
These games have been played from the mid 80's to current date :):)
-
Farmville is a girl game.
I've never played it, but have been told you need to flash your vagina at the screen before the start button will work.
-
My sister's fave was Rodland first, Fury of the Furries second. She doesn't play games anymore.
Ex girlfriends have enjoyed these:
Znyk (shareware)
Megaball
Tomb Raider
Superfrog
Pacman
I am talking about games that they asked to play and genuinely enjoyed.
I claim bonus points for having a mutually-agreeable arrangement on one ocassion where the little lady HAD to finish a Tomb Raider level and I suggested that some special stimulation might help her win through.
I banged her while she played, she held the controller most of the level but let go in the end
-
you mean there is more than one female on this site?
There are females on this site???
[sits down.]
-
There are at least two of us!
And I have no interest in anyones money, car or time. Just leave me with my Amigas and I'm happy all day long.
-
my sister has wii to and my wife likes playing bejewed so got that on pc mac and ps3
and psp hehe
also card games they seem to like . me michelle play sega tenis as 2 player and tekon too
my best friends partner likes car games as well as guitar hero
actaully we stoped playing burnout takedown because she was way better than us .. dam
just getting past fact they think games are to tough to play.
they seem like thinking type games and the puzzle challenge more
but sure they girls love the fps shooters too
-
good on you cammy when was your age enjoyed my hobbys and that was it you dont have to have anything esle
oh liked giant gina sisters game myself still do , and when first started palying 3d games used to get motion sickeness and sore eyes
know must be burned in cause all good. hehe
just like l like looking after babys and other stuff old stereo types are silly these days.
-
@ Cammy:
And I have no interest in anyones money, car or time. Just leave me with my Amigas and I'm happy all day long.
What? Not even if he drives an Isuzu Amigo that is insured by Amica with an embedded Amiga as its controller? C'mon, admit it, Cammy, resistance is futile. ;)
Seriously, though... I count four: you, Mel Zoom, Cecilia and Blobrana, although she seems to have fallen off the map. It's been a long time since she last posted.
All in all, not very many. (And not that I'd expect otherwise.)
-
Well, for the Amiga, I remember Tetris, Megaball, and Arkanoid being popular with a few girlfriends....
Oddly, my C-64/128 has been the biggest hit. Years ago, I had a gf who was OBSESSED with my 64.... Her faves:
-World Games
-Winter Games
-Mail Order Monsters
-Jumpman and Junior
-various 'game show' games
-
I had a girlfriend in the 90s who used to love two games: Dr Mario on the NES and Battlemorph on the Atari Jaguar. She played Tempest 2000 with me a bit, but I think Battlemorph was more her thing.
-
I do have to agree that this thread is a bit silly, though. There are several sites about girls and games that address it a bit better than a forum here would:
http://www.girlstech.douglass.rutgers.edu/gt_summary2.html
http://spacepioneers.msu.edu/girls_as_designers_spring_survey.pdf
http://www.bogost.com/watercoolergames/archives/do_girls_prefer.shtml
...to name a few.
-
@Cammy
let me guess, Mortal Kombat?
-
The teenage daughter of my friend loves "Superfrog". She enjoys it very much. But I have noticed that girls, next to platformers, like adventure games lik "The Secret of the Monkey Island", "Loom" or Sierra's quest series.
