I have no idea why anyone would want it... But then I realised if I replaced the words "Apple I" with "Lorraine Prototype", I'd be slobbering all over it... I guess it depends on your historical perspective :)

Lucky perhaps for us then, our beloved prototypes will never fetch so much :)

mm that is a bit pricey.... although I have two early Apples that I will be selling(I think) for a premium price, certainly no where near the price of the one in the link below.  Collector items, as these macs were used and toured with a famous broadway show :-).. rescued from certain death in the garbage bin.

@bloodline

Yep, they want it for the same irrational reasons that cause some Amiga fans to pay $2500 for a used Amiga PPC accelerator from eBay!  Fools and their money are soon parted!  LOL

Well most PPC cards sell around 600-700 euro, so 795 to 925 US dollars.
I admit it's a steep one when you are used to low prices for any kind of hardware, but the CS PPC and BPPC are the Holy Grail as most of us will say.

I paid 610 euro for a 060 CS PPC @ 50/200Mhz, so I got a fair price on that one.
Good thing also was that it was a person to person exchange with Mousehouse (also here on Amiga.org).
Get one of them and never ever sell it, if you can get a second one at a decent price, maybe, but I wouldn't do it.
I rather would like to find one in an Amiga 4000 which you paid alsmost nothing for :roflmao:

My Amiga CD64 prototype has gotta be worth about 50 grand.  Hedley Davis speaks about it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cml_YsTznRU I wonder what the world would be like if the CBM/Acorn/ATI merger had gone through?

Aaah well...
