Title: 59 users ?! Are we catching back old times ?
Post by: Jose on December 22, 2005, 06:19:16 PM
Just noticed that there are 59 users online while I'm posting this, could this mean people are coming back ?
I remember some years ago before 2000 when the user count would normally be 80/90 users online.  :-(

Hi,

User counts fluctuate between the colder and warmer seasons, plus most of the world is now taking off for the Christmas holidays, meaning they're sitting around the computer trying to figure out what to do..

Welcome back to anyone it applies to anyway.  :)

I think it could be the case that the Amiga scene is passing into a new phase.  After all the years fighting about the "future", it seems that the focus is going back to enjoying the Amigas of the past.  Most conversations on here involve the classics.

I've come back into the scene after a 6 month break.  I was pretty much sick and tired of all the pointless arguing.  I'm back because I re-discovered why I was involved in the first place, The Commodore-Amiga range of personal computers.

... Amazing how that happens, isn't it Andy?

People wondered why I wasn't all super-hyped about "the future" but when you read the writing on the wall 5 years ago, it's hard to get enthusiastic.

I just got the latest Amiga Forever from Cloanto (thank you!), so that gives me lots to play with.  You'd have to see my desk, but take my word for it that not even a 600 would fit any more, so Amiga Forever is very well appreciated in my situation.

Keep in mind that here, as well as AW.net or any other place that uses Xoops/Nuke/etcetera, a lot of the "guests" count will actually be Google and other search index engines.

I had forbade Google from hitting our server for a long, long time, but when we start dropping off of their search engines, maybe that's not a good thing..

I sort of stumbled across this site about a month ago and have found the information very heplful. :-D
Been a user of Amigas for many years and dident really know that there was still so many others.
I also bought the Amiga forever as well for my PC. Now I just have to figure out how to conect the two together cheaply  :-?

Use AmigaExplorer that came with AmigaForever.  You can use it with cheap null-modem cable if you want, it's very easy to use, just pop the supplied file into your WBStartup drawer then run the program on the PC.  It's a very easy way of sharing files between the two.

Yup! I read A.O every day! Plus, I love this site because peeps here don't FLAME otheres and everyone is very helpful and generous. I love A.O!

ME = Commodore many years, then WINTEL many - many years, and now Amiga, cause I always wanted to get into it!   :-)

Plus, Micosoft is making it VERY expensive to stay on the WINTEL platform due to "no more pirating". I have my MCSE and to tell you truth, I couldn't have dont that if Microsoft didn't "give away" their software for so long.

People are looking for a less expensive, less complicated and less vulnerable way of computing! Hopefully, Amiga will be the wave of the future. And, IMHO, MAC just plain sucks!

Here's a MAC...  "Let me do that for you - you don't have to worry about that."

Here's me...  "What the hell just happened on this computer?"

Anyone want to trade a full blown A1200 for a brand spanking new Mac Mini with OSX Panther and Tiger?   :-P
