Similar sounds
« on: February 03, 2008, 02:10:45 PM »
Whilst listening to the Simpsons' "Duff Man" music, I heard what can be best described as 'chik' and 'chikaaaaah' sounds which sounded very familiar.

http://urhq.com/Lotus2Jingle1.mod (heard throughout and in quite a few other lotus mods)

and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Q7FFjUpVLg (heard at 00:32 00:35, 00:39, 00:45 etc)

Or am I going crazy?

Lotus2, according to the link the OP provided.

I highly doubt "Duff Man" stole those sounds from Lotus2. Such sounds was very common late 80's/early 90's music. I think we can safely say that Lotus2 stole the from somewhere else.

("Stole", meaning borrowed and/or imitated)

I expect they were presets (or rather Library sounds) on one of the various samplers available at the time... I guess either a Fairlight or an Emulator II...

Probably. I also remember those sounds from Yamaha and Roland keyboards.

Curious, the names imply that they were indeed sampled (and thus stolen) from Yello :-)

Read Bloodline's post.  The song Oh Yeah by Yello is the song used in that movie.
Yello had some really good songs that weren't ruined by overplaying in movies, also.
