« on: August 03, 2010, 07:22:34 AM »
The magazine Obligement publish today an interview with Pascal Papara, maker of the AROS computer AresOne. Pascal have a lot of projects for AROS (like the software distribution Broadway) and also for the whole Amiga scene (like AMC, the Amiga Media Center).

On the Amiga Event in Essen someone told me that even the MorphOS Team said they will stop using PowerPC in 2013.
This is not true. He should know better than spread nonsense like that.

I don't believe for one bit that he came up with that by himself. Clearly he spoke to some MorphOS guy that mentioned something but of course he could have miss understood it. Pascal is not the kind of guy that spread lies just for the fun of it.

So who spread what in the first place ?
AmigaOS or MorphOS on x86 would sell orders of magnitude more than the current, hardware-intensive solutions. And they\\\'d go faster. --D.Haynie

How could we know? It didn't come from the MorphOS Team.

It is irrelevant anyhow. It is not his place to talk in behalf of the MorphOS Team.

Hi, well you may now it already :)

The only thing i can offer is to try to get the name from the person.
It was no member of Team Morphos! But a "main Fan" who is always at the GEiT meetings - i will look through some Photos. If i find him i will send a pm over at MophZone because i would not like to make his name public.

Sorry again. He told it to me in a way that i thought it was officially anounced, at least in MorhOS only forums - sorry sorry sorry.

not speaking in favour or in disfavourer of morphos... I value the efforts of all, so please no flames on that bit.
...but purely from a hardware cpu point... powerpc for the consumer market is as dead as a dodo except for second hand *old* macs... so it is really hard for me to understand why morphos (or similar projects non-ami related) don't re-route to x86/x64 or ARM based architectures ? (the latter would get my vote)

Yeah, I'd say if MorphOS DIDN'T have plans to support other architectures within the next couple of years, they need a new business plan.

Writing an OS for old decaying hardware will only get you so far.

Yep. I could see Morphos going X86, it only makes sense.  That aside it was a great interview.
