Well I took the plunge an hour ago and ordered an AmigaOneXE in a tower case from Compuquick.

Now all I need is information on what to do with that $50 Amiga Inc coupon... (no suggestions please!)

Eyetech syas to mail your receipt to Amiga Inc for a refund  (See my earlier post "They're not Coupons, they're Rebates.")

As for me, my family has hinted that Santa's merry elves are working on mine at this very moment!
Now featuring new and improved G4 AmigaOne, with Mozilla!

Uuh, nobody has said you will save money since nobody has said what the price of A1+AOS4 will be. You could be paying more for all we know.

I think you've misunderstood. The price when you order now is for the AmigaOne board alone. So you're paying nothing for AOS4. So unless the price of AOS4 is a negative number, one does not need to worry about paying more.

To be honest, I'm not worried about the money, I was just worried that I may end up with an inferior version of the Amiga One hardware (If that is possible)  :-D I'm thinking of the Buster revision issues in the original Amigas here.

I'm not *that* interested in Linux, I already been there done that when I bought the first version of Amiga DE.

So, seeing as all I'm waiting for is OS4 running on AOne, is it worth me buying now?

The only advantage might be that I can spread the cost of the bits and pieces over a few months but like I said I not really bothered about that.

Just out of interest, how much of the price of the top end AOne is the processor and how much is the motherboard?

Thanks for that info - I figured it would be something like that.

Big tip folks - make a copy of your receipt before you send it incase it gets lost in the mail.

I suggest you go and read the Eyetech press release AGAIN.

We all know what the prices of the A1 models are, and OS4 will be EXTRA.  Buy an A1 NOW and get OS4 for FREE.

I suggest you read it again. It doesn't say what the price of the A1 will be when AOS4 is released.

@Strobe

Ok, they don't say what the price will be, as with all prices it can go up or down, but they do say;

So, in return, we are offering all users who wish to take up this 'Earlybird' offer a free, registered, copy of OS4 for the AmigaOne as soon as it becomes available. The Earlybird 'free OS4' offer represents a saving of around 12% on an AmigaOneG3-SE mo otherboard

Thereafter OS4 will become a separately chargeable item

These prices exclude local taxes, shipping and (apart from the Earlybird offer) OS4.

Unless component prices go down by an (large) amount, an A-1 with OS4 will be more expensive then the earlybird offer..

This:

  A 700MHz G3 (750FX cpu) version of the AmigaOne-XE will be made available - at reduced cost - early in 2003.

however does seem a bit confusing in this respect, but I think we should see it as the A4000/040 and A4000/030 release (The 030 was the cost reduced version of the 040 according to C= press releases)

Everything you say will be misquoted and used against you.

Which is why I say if you don't want to get burned, wait until you can buy the entire working product.
