will coverdisks work on a500 ?

Dear Amigans:

I am planning on buying an amiga 500.
I need some software to test it.
I don't have any commercial games for amiga 500.
I do have a large collection of original coverdisks
for amiga ( amiga shopper- CU amiga)they all work
on my amiga 1200.
Will these coverdisks work on an amiga 500 ?
(if they do not specify for aga only )
Please help me !!!

Assuming there is nothing wrong with the disk drive, they should work. Whether or not the software on them will, is a different question.

If the A500 is running < OS1.3, you will probably have problems with FFS formatted disks.

I got every CU from the beginning of 1992 until the end of the mag and I'm pretty sure that all the disks will boot on a standard a500. Even if some of the s/w on the disk is AGA only, the disk would usually boot to a menu.

I'm pretty sure that the disk labels on CU had the required spec written in tiny black ink on a red band on the later editions.
