Title: Favourite amiga-exclusive game

Nintendo had the Mario-exclusive games, Sega had Sonic: What was your favourite Amiga-only game?

I wanted to say that too, but it wasn't Amiga-exclusive.
Most of my favourites are either arcade ports or they have been released on other platforms.

The only favourite Amiga-exclusive title I can think of atm is Dogs of War. That wasn't released on any other platforms, was it?

Edit: No, it was also released for the Atari ST..

Car-Vup is a very cool game for the moment 1991 I think of its release. :-P

That's a difficult question, since many of the best Amiga games were ported to (or from) other platforms. Another vote for XTReme Racing. All of the others I am thinking of (Cannon Fodder, Worms, Nebulus, Zool to name a few) were available on other platforms.

Actually, wasn't Worms: The Directors Cut an Amiga only version? If so then that would be a definite favourite Amiga-only game. It was, and still is, the best version of Worms.

I wonder if it would have made any difference to the Amiga's fate if all those classics which were ported to other platforms had been left as Amiga-only titles. It might have brought in more users and funded the platform sufficiently to keep it alive.

[EDIT]
I would like to point out that hearing my PC-owning friends bragging about this great new DOS game they can play, then seeing that it was a conversion of Zool with crap graphics and awful sound made me furious! They didn't seem to understand that these games had been around for ages on the Amiga, and were much better!
[/EDIT]

Kick Off 2!!!
Maybe it's not Amiga exclusive but its a perfect simulation of soccer.

Others can be Operation Stealth,Monkey Island 2 or Shadow Fighter.

I also love Battle Squadron and Lotus 1,2 and 3. :-D

On the other hand, it's kind of sad that Superfrog wasn't ported to SNES/Megadrive. A bigger audience could have given it the publicity it really deserved.  :-)

Yes it would have given that game more publicity, and would have made more money for Team 17, but it wouldn't have promoted the Amiga, since games for other platforms rarely advertised that they were Amiga originals. So porting more games to other platforms would only serve to permit non-Amiga users to play games which were intended for the Amiga, and probably reduce the Amiga's user base even further.

Some time I ago I saw one of those DTV joysticks. It apparently had several ORIGINAL Sega games on it, but upon inspection, ALL of the games were Amiga originals. I can't remember what they all were, but one of them was Sensible Soccer. Hardly a Sega original

Such a messed idea for a game.

I even have a 15 minute long mp3 of the soundtrack I listen to occasionally.  :)

Well, I have to admit that I am into shooters (perfect for relaxing, which for me is the motivation of playing a game). I recently rediscovered Hybris. Quite an oldie (1988 by Discovery software), but I'd say one of the best shooters ever made. Cool graphics, great playability, awesome demoscene style music and massive destruction...  :-D

Any other recommended shooters? (I know R-Type and the like, but I think I prefer V-scrolling.)

@moto: I think the Amiga would have died sooner or later anyway, because of bad management and whatnot.
But it truly makes me sad that this gem of a game is relatively unknown.

Oh! Oh! Ruff N' Tumble may be Amiga-exclusive?

Edit: Doh! Someone beat me to it.  :-(

Ruff 'n' Tumble is a definite favourite of mine too, and AFAIK an Amiga only. This could have been a real killer-game if it had been marketed right. As madsjm says, it all comes down to management :-(

Breathless was also a wicked game.

I don't know if it was ported elsewhere, but I'd say Wizkid for me, great game! Anyone else remember it?

Deliverance.

Way back when I had my Amiga 500 I found this game at some garage sale or something.  I think it was from Europe as I'd never seen it in the US, and I think it's Amiga exclusive.  Best graphics I'd seen on the system.

If anyone has one with a box and manual that they'd like to sell, PM me please :)

Deliverance was really great, but... I saw it on C64 after emulation became extremely popular in PCs

And about Galaga, It was ported to MSX (as already said) but it was originally created to Arcades. I agree, it's one of the most popular games ever released! :)

*PS* Anyone knows what's the DTV Joystick (with "Sega" exclusively games, that in fact contain Amiga games???)

Damn, I spent a fortune on the coin up as a kid even before I owned a computer myself. That even caused me trouble with my parents.  :-o   I still play it on Mame from time to time... If I could choose one original arcade cabinet for my home, it would certainly be Galaga.

Most of my alltime favourite games are on the Amiga, but most weren't exclusive:

Frontier EliteII
Stuntcar racer
Armourgeddon 1 + 2 (exclusive I think)
Dune II
Worms:Directors cut
etc

This is difficult!

Alien Breed 3D and Alien Breed 3D II -were fantastic in their day.

Can't believe nobody has mentioned 'Genetic Species' -it was a great game.

What about 'Gloom'- great fun and ran nicely on a standard A1200.

T-Zero, Disposable Hero, Shadow of the third Moon, Fire and Ice, Uridium II and Foundation. -all great games that I spent a lot of time playing. -All worth picking up and playing if you don't have them already.

I'm not too keen on remakes, but warblade was made by Edgar vigdal....the man himself who made the original deluxe galaga......and he has done a tremendous job!

its the same game with new features and wonderous graphics, playability is still top notch although it feels a little easier than the original.

I reccomend all DG fans to try the pc version...and lose more hours of your life

I don't think the original The Settlers ever got ported anywhere. The latest versions were non-Amiga, though. :-/

Didn't a lot of Amiga games get released on that Atari thing at the same time, too? I don't think there were really any Amiga exclusive games at all until after Commodore went bankrupt because after then, what you got were games made by people in their basements that didn't seem to get released in a box on a shelf, but online only.

Anyhoo, it never got released anywhere I hear, but I played the Zeewolf II demo thing and that was pretty good.

Chaos Engine Remakes and other games of this type always suck!

You know why?  they always try to make them3D wich ruins the look...

perfect examples....StreetFighter EX.....what major crap!

but look at the new StreetFighter 4!  they went back to 2D but super enhanced Sprites.

Thats what Chaos Engine needs and SpeedBall 2

Speedball for Playstation is Garbage. The look is not the same nor the feel. I bought it and returned it.

>what you got were games made by people in their basements that didn't seem to get released in a box on a shelf, but online only.

Yes, that era spawned such classics as "Droidwars5"
and the hugely popular "2Decide" modular strategy game,
and gave birth to the multipurpose franchise
starting with "watchNplay",
and began the revolutionary
fileshare multiplayer technology
when "Secrecy" was put on aminet.

Those are my second favourite
amiga exclusive games.

It was those games that really
boosted the amiga community
into the 400 million users it has today.

You have to buy Super Stardust HD on the PS3... it helps if you have a surround sound system to hook it up to as well. It's amazingly well done and really addictive... Also don't forget to buy Lemmings from the PS store. :-D

As for Amiga-only exclusive I have to say Lotus 1, I still haven't found a racing game that is as good or as addictive. Need for speed is all about graphics but there is no challenge, no fun whatsoever.

-EDIT: Also try Worms Open Warfare 2 on the PSP, that was actually the main reason I bought the PSP.  :-D

while no amiga exclusive, but certainly amiga original and while not the best games in the world, the series that defined A500 was Shadow of the Beast 1,2,3.

After all, original Mario is there for spectrum and sonic has been released to many platforms lately.

As for Amiga-only exclusive I have to say Lotus 1
Lotus 1 is certainly not Amiga-only. I got here an Commodore 64 port, and AFAIK it was also on the AtariST

 OMG!!!!

 Everybody forgot to mention WALKER!

One of the best action games I ever saw in my life!

 What a shame!

I see some ppl strongly polling for a certain game.
*many* of the Amiga-classics as we remember them. were ported to the peecee in the mid 90's.
These were often utterly crap and bad ports.
Some Amiga-games still live on, like Worms or Lemmings among (many) others, on consoles.
This game I'm opting for *is* an Amiga-exclusive which still is in development (improvements and user-suggestions).

But for the moment, "-Only Amiga...." ;)

-> Total Chaos - AGA! <-

How hard is it for some of you people just to check first before you post? 90% of the games suggested so far are available on other systems. Just go to Lemon Amiga or Hall of Light ( http://www.lemonamiga.com and http://hol.abime.net ) and search for the game you THINK only came out on the Amiga, and you'll most likely see that it's also on the Atari ST, PC, Mega Drive, or a bunch of other systems.

As for my favourite Amiga-ONLY games, here's a short list:

Fightin' Spirit
Ruff 'n' Tumble
Mr. Nutz: Hoppin' Mad
Agony
Banshee
Lionheart
Disposable Hero
Shadow Fighter
Breathless
Kid Chaos

Lotus 2 was released on the ST and Megadrive,
Slam Tilt was released on the PC :)

I think the others were Amiga only.

@Mahen,
oh maaaan, i guess that leaves me with walker and xtreme racing then. :-)

guess that goes to show, if you can, multiplatform it, maximize the cash from the development investment. and by the time Walker and XTR came out, everything else had moved on...

@painkiller
Ah, that reminds me, i've had a settlers game running for a few days now... i wonder how its getting on...

Walker was great, and I spent a long time playing the demo of Qwak, not sure if that was out on other platfroms tho...

Can't beleive no-one's mentioned Payback yet?

Before GTA3 came out on the PS2 I had friends coming over and getting me to let them have a go on it, now that's the kind of games/app needed if there's going to be any kind of resurgence in interest in the Amiga..

Dang, 'favorite amiga-exclusive game' ?? Harder to answer than I thought  :-D

Well, another vote for Walker, Apidya, XTreme Racing ..

Someone mentioned shooters, how about Wings of Death? Kinda strange, but pretty sure it was Amiga-only...
