Would you buy?
« on: April 13, 2011, 02:55:32 AM »
I've often considered going into the home business market. I've sold some things on e-Bay before.

But curious as who in the Amiga community would be interested in this.

Would you ever possibly buy a custom computer pre-installed with AROS?

Any input would be helpful!

:)

Depends on the price. Pre-installed would save some grief.

What kind of hardware are you looking at?

It's all the same to me what any computer comes pre-installed with, because I invariably wipe it, set up my own partition scheme, and then install my own OSes of choice over it.
Computers: Amiga 1200, DEC VAXStation 4000/60, DEC MicroPDP-11/73
Synthesizers: Roland JX-10/MT-32/D-10, Oberheim Matrix-6, Yamaha DX7/FB-01, Korg MS-20 Mini, Ensoniq Mirage/SQ-80, Sequential Circuits Prophet-600, Hohner String Performer

Theres the Ares one and Imica, both of which seem to sell, so yeah, I'd consider it, if everything is installed, and the hardware is supported

I'm not exactly sure what hardware. Though I was even looking at those single board systems, with AROS on CF. Possibly designing my own mini-case. So they would not be very expensive, I would imagine.

No, as I can build a custom computer myself if need be.

If the case is something special that a normal hobbyist can't just buy from an online store, then the offering would be a lot more compelling, but I doubt I could justify the purchase even then.
