The new Checkmate 1500
« on: February 03, 2019, 01:23:34 AM »
It looks like the Checkmate A1500 Plus is getting close to production.

Can be found at
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/483774293/amiga-3000-inspired-modular-amiga-pc-desktop-compu
and
https://www.checkmate1500plus.com/Newsroom.aspx

What type of configuration are you going to do with yours?

I was going to do a black case with an A500+ and the zorro II backboard and use with a vampire A500

but I was thinking maybe leaving the vampire in an A2000 and use the checkmate A500 with ACA500 and ACA1233 as the back board has a 86 pin passthrough which ends up with a nice completely enclosed A500 ACA solution.

What do you think is a better use for the case?

I will fill the Checkmate 1500 case up with a PC mainboard, (i think a AMD Ryzen based cpu with embedded GPU) Might go for Amikit X as well for the look and feel.

AmigaOne X5000 -> 2GHz / 16GB RAM / Radeon R7 250 / M-Audio 5.1 -> AmigaOS 4.1 FE / Ubuntu Linux
Amiga 1200 -> Recapped / 68ec020 ACA 1221ec / CF HDD / RetroNET connected to the world

I am putting my A500 and ACA500 in there with one of Stephens adapters that extends the bus and adds a ZORRO II slot . My A500 already has a 2 MB Agnus chip, so this will be a pretty robust solution. I have not decided what I will do for a keyboard, yet. Maybe I should just add a RapidRoad USB to my ACA500 and use a USB keyboard and mouse with it.

Thinking of doing the same or an AROS box (Icaros Desktop will do about the same as AmiKit X)

You may want to check out the checkmate's bus board (on the checkmate's ordering sight) as it handle the a500 power, has a 86 pin passthrough and a Zorro II slot.  There are also keyboard solutions with both a A500 and A2000 keyboard (also on the ordering sight).

My plan is to use it with the Tabor when it finally shows up in the wild...
