I was wondering about buying Diagrom 1.2 off ebay.
Are the Loop Back Dongles much different for the Amiga?
A long time ago I noticed that the Parallel Port had a 12 volt out and needed a different cable for using printers.
I have an of A600 coming to me in the mail.
Hopefully I will be able to do a full port check.
I need a mouse and power supply and also hope to get a SD Card to IDE or CF to IDE adapter. I am Sorry for yelling.
Thanks.

Is there anything about a printer cable for PC that would hurt my Amiga if I used one?
Is there a 12 volt line that needs to be disconnected from the Amiga?
Thanks.

Printer cables are centronics to db25 data cables. I don’t think anything is PC related on them.
The modern IEEE1284 printer cables were designed long after the amiga was bankrupt, so the grounding might cause an issue, but I doubt it.
Older cables should cause zero issues on amigas... except for the 1000 that has reversed genders on the ports...

I heard that there was a 12 volt line that could fry something.
edit:
I found out on a few other sites that there is a +5 volt pull up line but not a 12 volt line like I thought.
Is this for the A500 or A1000?
edit:
I also found this.

I do not want fry anything.

I was able to hook my A600 to a HP Laserjet 5L and used the generic driver and postscript setting.
The toner is bad and I could not see if it printed anything.
I was using Final Copy II. Is there another driver for os2.1?
This will end it for me, for now.

I guess you can try other programs entirely, like Pagesetter or Pagestream, which sometimes came with their own printer drivers?
The version 2 of both these programs were on Amiga mag coverdisks back in the day...

The printer had a paper jam and now it is in need of some diagnosis.

Standard Centronics printer cables work on 500,600,1200,3k,4k etc, the 1000 was the one u had to watch out for.
i used a hp 5l for many years on Amiga. there are drivers on Aminet such as:
http://aminet.net/package/driver/print/hp4dr358
turboprint works well also.

Great, thanks.
I need to find out about getting a few more printers.
I would prefer Laser.
