Does anyone know of any games that use the hex layout on the game field?
-
Any particular type of game? Does it have to be an Amiga game? If not, then there is WeeWar (http://www.weewar.com).

MechForce

I hate hexmaps and have banned them from all games I have ever made. But if you really want a hex game then you might try Battle Isle or Perfect General or Mechforce.

Amiga and c64 games
I have played a game called Full Metal Planet.
You could turn off the hex.
I had part of a game for C64 that was a war game.
I just can not remember the name
edit:
board games:
Also I played Mechwarrior on a fold out map.
I found a game from Game Designer's Workshop called
Assault Tactical Combat in Europe:1985.
It is not the full game.

IIRC Battle Isle (2) was hex based

KOEI games (Romance of Three Kingdoms, Genghis Khan, Bandit Kings Etc.) should have hexmaps (battle screen)

@weirdami
Because:
1. Hex games are 20x slower than square games.
2. Square unit gfx always look better than hex unit gfx.

History Line 1914-1918... excellent game with hex tiles.
Basically Battle Isle but in the real world!

Battleisle

Battle Isle seems to be the most memorable.
I believe it was also on Sega Genesis.

Isn't the reason people use hex fields is so the characters can look like they are going diagonally?
