Title: Screenmode fails to start
Post by: captainmoomoo on August 20, 2016, 06:17:00 PM
Hi all,

I used WinUAE to setup a CF with AmigaOS 3.9 for my Amiga 4000.

Screen mode works fine in WinUAE, but it fails to start in the real Amiga with the attached error.

Can anybody help me understand what might've gone wrong here, and what I can do to fix it?

Thanks

What screenmode do you have configured?   I had to build my A4000 HD on my PC with WinUAE because I didn't have a monitor that worked with 15 kHz modes (or a working floppy drive).  I installed OS 3.9, set screenmode to DblNTSC and moved it over to the real A4000.  Booted just fine.

I added a CF reader later and just did the same thing.  I removed all monitors from Devs:Monitors and only installed DblNTSC.  If you have a proper monitor, try having only NTSC or PAL and make sure the screen mode is set in Prefs and try booting then.

Also..you didn't have a UAEgfx or other RTG mode set in WinUAE did you?

Did you use A4000/040 profile on WinUAE when you installed OS3.9? If you used whatever model profile with a 020, then perhaps 68040.library was not installed, and this is what you get, or perhaps you don't run Setpatch in Startup-Sequence, so 68040.library is not loaded.

Hi guys,

Thank you so much for the help.

Putting the CF back in the PC and then setting the screen mode from there to DblPal did the trick.

Thanks!
