Title: AO users (not trading as companies)
Post by: X-ray on November 11, 2004, 10:33:12 PM
The following AO users are people I have sold to/bought items from. I recommend them:

Topaz (bought a Cyberstorm PPC from him) (France)
Dr-Oxide (bought a 3070 Tape Drive from him) (UK)
Tahoe (was involved with above transaction) (Netherlands)
Adz (swapped camera components for chocolates) (Australia)
TJLazer (bought a DVD from him) (USA)
x56h34 (swapped an A4000T bracket for candy) (Canada)
Mendark (sold two PC DIMMS to him) (Netherlands)
Oliver (sold a PC GFX card and CPU to him) (Australia)
Vamigan (bought DKB3128 card from her) (USA)
Jeff (bought DKB3128 card from him) (USA)

Not strictly an AO user but it regards someone who advertises on Amibench. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM NICK TSOL! He lives in Greece and happily accepted 485 Euros from me for a CSPPC board that never existed. After excuses about the Greek post office being a bit slow he said they told him he had to wait 45 days until he could claim for the insurance. After 45 days had elapsed he started ignoring my emails. I now realise that this was a scam as Paypal only resolves disputes within 45 days. I have seen adverts on eBay recently for CSPPC boards and Nick´s poor English seems very similar to that of the advertiser. Shop with caution!

I've bought various bits of Amiga stuff from Ebay,  my best deal was a PPC card for my A1200,  at the time they were going for around £250 on ebay, but I got a dead one for £80 and fixed it for 20 pence (needed a new capacitor soldering on to replace one that the previous owner had accidently knocked off :-) )
I don't think I have every sold any amiga stuff,  I tend to keep hold of stuff like that.  I did try to sell the AmiGBG DVD on ebay but got exactly 0 sales !)

I bought an IDE splitter, AmigaOS3.9 cd, and 3.1 roms from Adonay.

I couldn't afford the IDE spliter at the time so he let me pay for it when I can.

@Adonay, I will try and pay soon, I seem to be spending all my money on other stuff.

Arrived in UK from Normay very quickly.

I'd hate to see Redrumloa's list of AO traders

Woof :-o That would be a tall order to make that list :-D I've never had a bad experience with AO users, which is why my Amiga auctions used to state No international sales, with the exception of established Amiga.org users.

keropi
Effy

Both are superb sellers, and true gents. And had I seen this thread earlier, would have acknowleged them sooner.

Alright! A crapload of Amiga CD's and various AminetCDs that will take months to go through, just came in the mail courtesy of AmigaPete all the way up in the great white north. That was a pretty trouble free deal. Boxed well too.

I am not sure if someone ever brought up the idea or not, but
why not create a web site which deals in good traders/buyers of Amiga items.  Scares me to even buy amiga-related hardware knowing a few people got scammed when buying a PPC.

It may be alittle time to maintain a site to keep track of transactions that were smoothly done between users, but some kind of system like that would be great. Especially having a page to what to watch out for or who not to buy from would greatly help the rest of us who we can trust.

Just my two cents.  :-)

Just got in the mail, a 56k modem from wa9yoz otherwise known as Anthony. I just sent the Money Order, and it came in the mail shortly after. I think you can buy from him in confidence. It was well packaged with plenty of bubble wrap and popcorn to protect it.

Just courious. Would that happen to be Anthony Bodo from
Lake Station, IN? Because I have seen his name pop up on
one of the Usenet groups about year ago. Somebody was
complaining about him. and they where upset with him.

I just got my A1200 from McVenco and it's superb! He did a lot to make sure it arrived from the Netherlands to Japan safely (and under 5kg so the shipping was real cheap). Overall it was a fantastic transaction.

My vote goes to PG, from Sweden.

Not only a true gentleman, but also a very nice guy, friendly, with a lot of patience and always willing to help

Got after a lot of trouble (not with him but with local customs), 3 scsi kits & 1 memory for my Blizzard cards

Excellent packaging, all working 100%....no complains!!

SO, Per-Gunnar, you rock!!!
 :-D
