Help me mount my A1200 HD under Linux! (Red Hat 8.0)
« on: October 26, 2002, 03:42:33 PM »
Trying to transfer all my a1200 files from my good old a1200 130MB harddrive to my PC, I ran into some problems;

I know I can't do this in Windows yet, but most Linux distributions are supposed to support the Amiga HD format.

Red Hat 8.0 doesn't seem to. At least not mine. Whenever I try to mount it, I get error that adfs filesystem is not supported in Kernel. (It IS the adfs filesystem, right...?)

My problem is this;
I have NO CLUE whatsoever, on how, or where, to obtain the adfs drivers for my Linux system. Neither do I know how to compile them in to my Kernel, but this is less of a problem. Plenty of guides for that!

So my real question is:
Anybody know where the adfs drivers for Linux are hiding?  :-?

The name of the fs is affs not adfs. If that is not supported you will need to recompile the kernel (not easy) or find somewhere the compiled affs module for your kernel.

Trust me...                                              I know what I\'m doing

I tried to get the affs driver working in RH 7.2 but had no luck at all with it. If you manage to get things working then I'd be happy if you would share some info on how you did it :)

In addition to the AFFS file system you also need support for the Amiga partition table (RDB, RDSK or something like that).

I think the version of WinUAE there working on now, allows for the Amiga Harddisks to be detected and used via the emulation.

Neat, I'll try that new version of winUAE as soon as it's released.
