Feeble Files
« on: October 14, 2003, 02:57:30 PM »
Does anyone know how to redirect the sound in the feeble files to a PCI card? When I play the game I can here the sound very faintly from the case speaker but not my SB card. PSA outputs to it fine and I tried changing system settings back to Pegasos 16 bit stereo but normal sound was still being output via the SB, while Feeble Files
still only outputs to the case speaker. (I think.)

Machine is G3 Pegasos 600mhz.

on an amiga we just set ahi modes for such, works like a charm.

and since pegasos and morphos use ahi , well i dont see how that could be a problem, check your ahi prefs and maybe do a cleanup in availmodes.

cheers

@wilse

Why are you using a SB-Live on a Peggy? Just curious?

Right. Feeble uses AHI modes, probably the Music Unit. It can't possibly be hardcoded to use Pegasos modes, since it wasn't written for a Pegasos in mind.

it wasnt? , why does it have a specific mos version then? , maybe this is why it was bundled free with every pegasos..

anyway good game, i like it...completed it also but sadly it aint very logical and i had to use some hints on my road to victory and most of all its plain DULL on excisting hw unless u have a 060ppc , or a peg i guess but if it got problems on there aswell...ok i wont bother with it for a while...or 3..

As I am using it for recording audio, I was under the impression that using a separate souncard would lesson the cpu load. Don't know whether this is true or not but I do seem to have all but eliminated the pops and clicks I was getting via on-board sound, whenever I tried to play back a complex mix.

It doesn't. It has a 68k and a WarpOS executable, both of which work perfectly on Pegasos/MOS.

kennyr: works perfectly ? that sounds abit "HAIL" to me , the game is by default too slow on powerup cards , sure it should be better on pegasos but if it doesnt work with a soundcard then all i can say is...WHAT?  its bundled with the hw.

just sounds like a "hey lets get ridd of a problem" , lets release it as part of the FREE superbundle.

but then again not many have an extra soundcard i guess, but then again not many will keep their peg1's either , so this feeble issue will get even brighter in the next few weeks/months...

@lempkee

Peg2 uses the same SB as Peg1, and therefore the same soundsys.
1. Make an announcment.
2. Wait a while.
3. Check if it can actually be done.
4. Wait for someone else to do it.
5. Start working on it while giving out hillarious progress-reports.
6. Deny that you have ever announced it
7. Blame someone else

Does it work if you disable on-board audio drivers?

kronos:yes, why i said what i said..

though i hope it gets fixed or there is an fix for it, it will be quite painfully as soon as we get a proper soundcard (one that doesnt use cpu load etc)

@itix:

How would I do that?

I thought that by selecting emu10kx on Music unit and Units 0 - 3, on
board sound would be automatically disabled.

Remove pegasos.audio from MOSSYS:Devs/AHI and reboot.

On-board audio is still available if app or game bypasses AHI prefs.
And I think Feeble Files bypasses AHI prefs now.
