WinUAE AOS bootup
« on: March 09, 2006, 09:57:21 PM »
Hi,

I have had Amiga Forever 2005 for a few months now, and was wondering if i could create a bootable AOS which is selectable upon my computer booting up?

The OS 3.x that you can select from the CD is good, and I can surf the net and download Amiga content through it, but would it be worth me buying the OS 3.9 CD and trying to install that through an emulated setup?

I know there is a bootable one on the CD, but thats the lynux version thad seems to have a problem recognising my graphics card.

Any help/suggestions whould be greatly appreciated.

Also what would be the best setting for the WinUAE setup, e.g. A4000 8Mb ram etc.

if i remember right the previus version of amigaforever that i have, has alread some parts of os3.9 include with it and licenced too. personaly i don't like it because it's not a full 3.9 package with uae too. i don't know if in versio 2005 has been improved or not. i wouldn't buy 3.9 just for uae though... it's double cost
A3040/25 AmigaOS 3.9
A1260BPPC AmigaOS 3.9/4.0
Sam440ep AmigaOS 4.1.2
PegasosII/G3 AmigaOS 4.1.2/MorphOS 2.7/Debian 5.0.7/SUSE 11.1
MacMini/G4 1.5 MorphOS 2.7/OSX 10.5.8
Long Live Amiga

If i am going to have bugs on my system,
at least let me keep the latest versions.

Hi,

What's the make/model of graphics card in your PC? As far as I know, the Linux-based "bootable Amiga" on the Amiga Forever CD uses a simple frame buffer driver, meaning that it should work with the majority of graphics cards.

When you boot from the CD, press F2 when the login prompt appears.

Then enter one of the following:

knoppix vga=normal

or

knoppix xserver=fb800x600

Not sure if these will work for you, but it's worth a try!

ok, got lynux thing to boot, but I prefer the WinUAE interface, its more complete.

Is it worth me shelling out for OS 3.9 and creating a boot file which is designed to run and boot into 3.9 on starup. Freeing may system resorces that XP load up which will not be needed and giving me a more stable workbench environment,

How would I go about doing this?
