Power ScanMagic w/FF probs?
« on: November 08, 2002, 03:40:19 PM »
Hi people,

I'm new to this forum so I hope you'll all go easy on me  ;-)

I've had the scanmagic for a while now and with certain software (games, demos, etc..) the border isn't 'blacked out' like it used to be on my old tv setup. Worms DC for example, has bars of colour which extend out from the game screen to the edge of the monitor. Is this a general problem or just something related to the Power Computing model? I know it's nothing major but it can be a little distracting at times...

Thanks guys!  :-)

I haven't had that problem yet, but I've heard about it. I'm pretty sure that there are some programs on Aminet to solve that problem by blacking out the border.  Scandoublers can do weird things at times!

Hi again,

I tried the black border fix of MCP but it doesn't seem to do anything.  I've even tried smaller one function programs just for border blanking from a no-startup situation, but again nothing happens.
I'm guessing this must be a hardware problem. Has anyone here got the eyetech scandoubler and if yes, does it have similar glitches?

Thanks again people.

Well, I have the DCE version. Part of the problem may have to do with the specific scan rates your doubler 'doubles' :-)  at, and the freq range of your monitor.

Is yours an internal or external model?

Hi -D- ,

I'm using the internal version at the moment. My monitor is a Belinea 15" and has a horizontal scanfreq range of 30-54kHz and a vertical scanfreq range of 50-120kHz. I'm using the PAL monitor driver at 15.60kHz doubling to 31.20kHz. I've already tried using the VGAonly patch but this doesn't seem to change the frequencies for PAL. Maybe I need to edit the monitor driver settings? Although I'm not sure how to go about this!!

Thanks!

Well, it all sounds good...I tried a few programs on
mine to see if I could get anything similar, and I did notice
a few strange problems with the borders, especially if I adjusted the borders
in on my monitor.
My first scandoubler I had to send back because of a weird problem that
affected certain colors in interlaced modes.
