Where is Waldo?
« on: August 02, 2003, 01:11:04 PM »
Yes, where is good old Bill? I mean, he is still CEO of Amiga but he is nowhere to be seen. Does he actually do some work at the moment? Why not come out in the open and discuss some issues with us? Even if you are too busy with work there is always a moment you can use to come online. I am typing this while I am on holiday so you see there is always a moment.

This is not a flame thread, I am just trying to find Waldo.

Hey Coder do you have a spare A1 that you're not using right now?

If you feel less optomistic about the ETA of AOS4 for the A1, you could always lend the board to the AROS team so we can get AROS started on it :-)

Bear in mind that there are no guarantees....

AFAIK Coder, hes working at home, under stress, not well, fighting court cases. But then you already knew that, or the eyesockets for your bucket are insufficiently large for you to have read the endless reports, speculation and attacks on ANN, Amiga.org, Moobunny et al :-)

As for why not, well this has to be the only user group on the planet that thinks that a CEO is personally accountable to each and every member whether or not they have a financial stake in it.

Why don't you ask it as a question on AmigaWorld.net or encourage the Amiga.org moderators to set up some kind of interview?
Hate figure.

>Amigaworld.net

Hello
I had posted "What is the meaning of JEOPARDY" on
OS.AMIGA.COM and WWW.AMIGAWORLD.NET (Fleecy Q&A).
Unfortunately no official explanation.

>CEO is responsible.
The action and judgment of the CEO determine the
future of the platform and community:
1. User: will this machine became obsolete,
without any future, new application, new OS etc?
Without proper application, the machine will
become museum piece or paperweight.
AmigaOne users are lucky that LINUX for PowerPC
is available. Imagine if there is NO Linux for PowerPC.
Even with Linux, the user should compile the
applications themselves and many Linux X86 apps
cannot run on top of PowerPC.
2. ISV / Independent Software Vendor:
How many customer will buy my product?
Is there any chance of increasing market size?
What about my investment in developing this
application? Can I re-coup the investment?
What happen if the platform "collapsed"? (BeOS)
Can I port the software to Windows / Linux?
3. Hardware / Software agent:
How many customer will buy Amiga products?
Is there any chance of increasing market size?
What happen to old  stock in Warehouse if the
platform collapsed and I cannot sell it?

The decision and judgment of "closed" platform
leader/CEO  will affect many people outside the
company. See: BeOS (JP Gasse), old APPLE (Amelio)

>Working from Home, Stress, Death Threat etc
How come Mr McEwen work / function as CEO/leader,
if he is afraid to leave his house?
Whatever threat, he should find a way to handle
it (local police, bodyguards, camera, guns etc).
If he cannot handle the threat or stress,
perhaps he should resign as CEO.

What has this to do with the CEO talking on Amiga.org or making speeches at AmiWest?

ISVs have direct relationships with CEOs, VPs or more often, if the company is big enough, account managers.

In the 20th century many things came to the aid of people trying to work at home, they range from broadband internet right down to the humble telephones. AFAIK the warning was against appearing in public, at a preknown and disclosed date. This does not apply to business appointment behind closed doors. Who said anything about being "afraid" or not leaving the house?

OK, so next time you feel threatened, don't call the police right? Because you are so clearly capable of handing anything you have no need for law enforcement.

perhaps he should resign as CEO.

Errrrrr sorry A+B -> F? Not only are you leaping to conclusions but you demonstrate a singular lack of appreciation of the realistic demands expected of people that work in commercial sectors, and what they are not required to do.

Sure, in the world of films, McEwan would don more guns than Arnie and scale buildings to protect his family but in the real world outside Hollywood, things do not work that way.

Hate figure.

From comments made by Ben at Amiwest, I would add a couple of months to both of those guesses.
