OOO I`m scared

Hello people
Just wondering now I`ve got my computer up and running again. I now have a 40gb IDE HD to replace my 9.1gb SCSI one. I for obvious reasons want all that nice space. I don`t know if it was a coincidence but my last HD decided not to work when I tried to get the extra space using SFS. I`m scared to try SFS now. If this HD goes I`m stuffed. I need to get on with some work with it. I`ve been out of action for about a week already and I won`t be able to get fully up and running today either.
Can somebody explain how exactly to get a partition using HDToolbox and SFS. Also what each step may do. Basically I need as much info as possible. I don`t want to mess this up. Not that I think I messed up last time.
Thanks

Are you partitioning a drive for your miggy then?
:-o Can't be that hard, can it? :-o
I certainly wouldn't have a clue, but it's a breeze on my Mac. :-D

You could have both connected at the same time...
(with an IDE interface).
Are you sure you want to use SFS, i haven`t that much (good) experience with it.
What OS are you using? I hope that you are running the Os3.9 , as it`s better at recognising the HD.
For some hardware go to,

I personally would have FFS (or pfs)on my machine..

or better

My system is at
www.NOLIN.net/computer.htm
I think I`ll manage, but I`m scared of doing it. I know how to partition etc. I`m just scared. I may test it out on a spare HD first.
Which is best PFS or SFS? SFS is still in development though. I have PFS3, but have never used it.

You're talking as if you'll do some kind of damage to the drive. You won't. Keep your data in the old drive, partition the new one - and if the partitioning fails, just do it again.

putting SFS onto a drive is dead easy, its all a matter of reading the docs, its all there in step by step instructions. Takes me about a minute to setup a HDD to use SFS. I dont understand why you went IDE when your SCSI is so much quicker than your IDE, you do some strange things Nick :-)

If you've got PFS3, I say use it, it's an excellent
product. Essentially, you just replace the file
system in HD toolbox, and then use PFS3's format
command. It's pretty easy, and the docs are
extensive and well written.

i would go PFS...(IMHO)
Go ahead and DO IT... it`s fun. Play around, There are a few options that will improve disk operation, but it may not be what you want...
Nothing that will actually harm the drive. ( except low-level format! - don`t ever use that)...

Yep, if you have PFS3 then use it.
After installing it several years ago, I have never had any problems at all, and
its so much faster than FFS!
I have an email I wrote to someone on exactly how to go about installing it
using HDtoolbox.
Send me an email or PM and I'll send it to you.

@RYU
Hehe I plan on getting an IDE->SCSI adaptor when I have the cash. I want space, but cheapely at the moment. I don`t care about speed so much. I will use my surviving SCSI drive if I need speed, though the chances of that are quite slim. I don`t do much video/ sound stuff.
@Castellen
I`ll be OK.....but thanks anyway. Hmm I may try both PFS and SFS. Though as SFS is installed at the moment, I will go with that first. I`ll let you know when I`ve done it. If I`m not back for a while and theres complaints about Windows 98 then you`ll know I`ve had problems.
Thanks

Hi Nick
Well if you have PFS3, then I would recommend that you use it.
I have used it for many years (Alas I don't have it any more) but it never failed me. And I did use it for 3 years or so..
